We've chosen recurve rather than compound.
Simpler and easier to repair/restring and less likely to self-destruct if dry-fired.

Our group decided upon the Excalibur Exomax after a lot of study and trials. This make and model was on our shortlist and when we got a terrific deal on the purchase of 6 of them we went ahead on the purchase. The Excalibur line of recurve crossbows out perform almost all of the compound crossbows and they are simpler and almost bulletproof.

I use a Mathews Switchback (the original) with a Muzzy drop-away rest, single pin (adjustable) sight, Alpine 3-arrow quiver, Tru-ball mechanical release, Gold-Tip arrows, Blazer vanes (RH helical), and Montec G5 solid SS broadheads.
