Planted in my Aerogarden this week 2 Basil plants and 5 different types of hot peppers. Already seeing the basil germinate, with the peppers being a couple days away.

Preparing for a possible snowstorm, and or blackout, so placed LED flashlights in each room that are easily accessible, moved my LED lanterns to the pantry area and installed new batteries in them (placed a piece of nonconductive plastic over the contacts so the batteries will not drain).

Got my main solar crank world radio with USB charging station & weather alert and installed new batteries and hung it with a carabiner in the pantry on my metal multitier racks. Opened my new (but far cheaper) World crank radio in my home office and installed new batteries and set it the tuner to Iheart Radio.

Bought a huge container of nondairy sweetener at CVS using a member's 40% off coupon and 2 CVS reward bucks so only had to pay $4 something for a $10 container. Last I used a 1/2 water /12 vinegar solution in my autodrip coffee maker to give it a good internal cleaning.

Today I snowshoed to the nearest food cache and hauled in supplies for next ten days.

And dumped the five-gallon poop bucket (only contained about three gallons of content). And the three pee cans.

Wow! Me too, except I hauled food for eleven days ...and I only had one snowshoe, I had to change feet every step. I guess I'm God's gift to prepping also.

...according to your activity log you've been on this newsgroup all day, that "food cache" you "snowshoed" to must not have been very far away.

Myself... I launched a rocket and resupplied my BOL on the far side of the moon.

And I didn't have even ONE snowshoe.

And something wierd happened right after launch.... It looked like a huge weather balloon at about 19km up. I saw it, then lost sight of it, and I heard a thump. Don't know if I struck it or not.

AeroGarden update:
Plant Table Green Houseplant Terrestrial plant

It may be hard to see in photo, but there are 7 pods, 5 of which have 2 different plants growing in them, a Genovese Basil, and one of 5 Hot Pepper plants. The Lamp arm raises up btw. Eventually there will be only 2 Basil plants, as the other 5, I will routinely harvest cutting it down so that the Pepper plants can have more light. Thus I will be able to harvest 5 Basil plants over next month or two, & then have year round harvesting of the 2 other Genovese Basil plants, and year-round harvesting of 5 Hot Pepper plants.

You can see the Hot Pepper plant on the far-right back pod. It is the 1st stem going right to left. You can tell the difference as the pepper plant has 2 leaves opposite to each other going horizontally. Those are the "baby-teeth leaves" that will fall off soon.

Those plastic see-thru containers on the right gives the pod a "greenhouse" effect to help in germination process, and the lights are fluorescent grow-bulbs. This is an older model AeroGarden, as the current models use LED Grow lights. Since I have so many spare bulbs and parts, I never bothered to upgrade to the newest model.

Prep of the day:

Added water & nutrients for 1st time to AeroGarden.

Went through my gear and made a small toolbox to put in my Vehicle:
added a Multi-socket that reshapes itself to fit over any size socket, or bolt head so a 40 in one socket. Also brought down a handheld Alternator tester, Multimeter, D.C. " AA, AAA, C, & D" Battery charger, a 1.5-12 volt Voltage converter, 12v to 110v inverter, and some wire cutters & wire strippers.

Also picked up past week 4 cases of Campbell's condensed soup since it was over 66% off.

Finally got off my @$$ and troubleshooted why my 2nd set of amplified speakers were not working. Past couple of years in my home office/computer room, I have only had the front 5 speakers (4 satellite speakers and 1 subwoofer) out of my 10 speaker system, working. I have a bad back, so I have been procrastinating/avoiding this endeavor as long as possible, as I knew after completion, well let's just say, I was going to be hurting...

Turned out when I switched to my laptop for my main computer usage, I left the back set connected to the main desktop. While my desktop was specifically designed to handle multiple monitors, microphones, TVs, etc. hookups, my laptop is not as 'High-tech grade'. Luckily my place is like a small Radio Shack, (worked there off and on from ages 14-20 years, while doing odd jobs on the side & bought a crapload of their inventory many years later when they went out of business w/90% off sales)

A couple 1/8" male audio stereo splitters, two male 2 male 1/8 stereo cables, one male 1/8" stereo to female 1/8" cable,& one 1/8" stereo coupler and I had everything connect but when I put something with Audio on like Youtube, nothing.

So, looking at the Subwoofer where all the speakers plug in to, I did not see a power button, so good old Google led me to the manual. Darn thing has a tiny slide switch on the back of one of the 4 speaker systems.

Round 2
One speaker still wasn't working and a glance at the subwoofer showed me the culprit: it might have been helpful if it was plugged in. The 4 satellite speakers and subwoofer in the back greatly have enhanced the Music Audio, and Surround sound for an amazing movie experience. My neighbors are going to hate me for the dual subwoofer setup, and yes I know a person cannot tell the difference between left or right with the sub frequency, but you can tell the physical pressure from the sub pumping base wave and air at your body. Anyway, this way when one subwoofer speaker pushes my chair on rollers one direction, the other subwoofer will negate that, so I shall remain in place. Haha

Next
Put together a 2nd AeroGarden [Hydroponic garden] and those 7 pods today have germinated.

1st AeroGarden has 12 plants, some as tall as 5 inches high already , while this one only has 7 planted, 2 Basil and 5 different hot pepper plants. SALSA Incoming...that & Pesto

Added a 3rd LED light fixture for my open floor home layout, illuminating more of my kitchen, pantry, & living room by doing so. This was done by attaching an extension cable to my mop pole with duct tape and feeding the cable behind my metal multi-tier rack so that the cable would be out of the way and not visible. This extension cable plugs into a AC on/off receiver module. When I press one of my transmitters, 6 LED lights turn on throughout my living room and pantry area, also shedding light to my kitchen, bedroom, bathroom & stairwell.

You may notice the 3 small bulb lighting fixture on the ceiling. My entire home is equipped with LED lightbulbs and if I turned on every light and AeroGarden on at same time it is still 20 watts less an hour than running those 40 watt * 3, low light emitting bulbs. Cant find where to get a LED version

My 3 ceiling fans are also on remote control, and my computer and Echo dot setup allows me to control electronics like my computer, TV, and with a voice command I can play music or TV streaming movie in any room of my home just by speaking.

But with all this High Tech setups, I decided to add to my "Prep" this week Over the air Broadcasting stations to my living room TV. Opened up the Obama era free $40 digital TV converter box, plugged it in and nothing. Tried a couple of antennas and still no luck so I got my Digital TV amplifier out and after an hour of moving around my living room fiddling with the Gains, station position, and metal antennas, I got 13 TV stations out it.

Since I have so many AV hookups, I have a ABCD AV switch allowing 4 sources or 4 outputs. So used last vacant spot to put my surveillance camera feed to this setup, which the camera is at the front bay window displaying the whole courtyard.

Called up 2 tool companies for warranty claims on my tools, a cordless screwdriver & a heavy duty staple gun, both went through without a hitch, and both are being shipped for free.

Local Academy had a few items on clearance last week. Picked up a Sawyer faucet tap kit that should make any faucet drinkable (barring contamination of heavy metals/chemicals) for use during boil warnings. Also found a Stanley camp cook set that will round out my whole Stanley kitchen now. That's really more luxury than prepping. Realized my old cook set was just about toast last time we camped. These new kits will be a great improvement.
Both items were ~60% off normal price.

Yesterday they had small rifle primers back in stock for the first time in 3 years!!!
$9 for a box of 100. Picked up two.
