What to store in pump house?

1135 Views 7 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  indie
We just had a new pump house built and there's quite a bit of room for...something. But with the high humidity, I can't figure out what I should put in there! No canned food. 5-gal buckets have metal handles, although I could remove those in storage, but would the humidity bother anything in a sealed bucket? Then I was thinking maybe vacuum sealed spare clothes, but what a nightmare if the seal was faulty and the moisture got in. Any ideas?

That's a good idea! I've been meaning to get a couple of big barrels to store up, but in the meantime I have a ton of vinegar bottles full.

Plants will LOVE IT! Legality would vary depending on your state, but put in some sky lights and grow some "bartering materials".

No use for it personally, but if SHTF you couldn't ask for a more "in demand" trade currency!

I'm pretty sure it's legal here now too!

I suggest you use it to store pumps.

Really though, how hard would it be to turn it into a root cellar?
Don't root cellars need to be fairly low humidity? If not, score! We've been trying to figure out about building a root cellar.
Just answered my question - root cellars need high humidity. I'm excited! We can probably get quite a bit stored in there. Thanks!!
