WI had 600k hunters this year, MI 700k, PA 750k and over a million alone in TX. Add those numbers up through out the US and you don't think it would be a slaughter?? There would be a multi million man army shooting at the invaders. If we all got just one.

Open that mouth and remove all doubt.
The bulk of them are out of shape, and I'd bet most have had zero training in small unit infantry tactics.
Hiding in a stand to shoot an animal that doesn't know they are there and couldn't shoot back if they did does not make them combat ready.
Cannon fodder ready, maybe.

Right? So not worth your effort.
You'd probably be better served elsewhere.

Don't worry about a karen. Keep an eye on your government. Several years ago a few executive orders were issued giving the feds the authority to seize horded items needed by the community as a whole to survive.
I heard about that! Too bad I lost all those supplies with my guns in that terrible boating accident!

So, assuming that the front line doesn't come to me, meaning the fighting is either mostly in a foreign theater, or on the US borders, from what I've learned about past wars, just the US being involved in a serious conflict with another major country can be more than enough to cause a fecal-matter+air-mover type event here at home.
I should think that if the US goes to war with either China or Russia, whole nations will be virtually annihilated.

True, but they could also be the first ones to cover your butt if you've built a good relationship with them.
Nah. They know I was a cop for many years.

You do realize that this new round is almost the same as the 284 Winchester
Any round is "almost the same" as some other.
That's not the point I'm addressing.
If China is gearing up to defend against the 5.56 NATO, they won't be prepared to deal with the 6.8x51.
Better ballistics, longer engagement range, lighter case allowing for higher carrying capacity.
If we can get the XM7 into soldiers' hands and get the kinks knocked out, by 2025 they could be carrying a formidable rifle the enemy isn't prepared for.
Not that we'll ever actually see a ground war on our soil... but still good to outmatch your potential opposition.

Just what an invading army wants to deal with. Bubba in a tree, behind a bush or hiding in a building. Just waiting to pop something.

Wonder how many wife's, family members and kids would help out. Those that don't actually buy a license and hunt, but can still use a gun. What does that do to the numbers of barrels pointing at the invaders. Times 10 maybe 20.

Hard thing is, at least in my opinion, this simply isn't the same America as back in the 40's when Yamamoto allegedly said there'd be a rifle behind every blade of grass. Are there guns? Sure. But for the few young'uns with the stones to stand against an invader, fewer still will stick around once they see their buddy die in front of em. This new generation has had the tough worked clean out of them, for the most part. Most are too soft to even work a hard job, let alone fight & die for a country they've been taught to hate.

Us older generations might put up a decent fight, & hopefully it'd be enough, but it'd be something to see. I see it becoming a war of attrition, should landfall be made here & not be immediately repelled.

Naaah… I’m good. Guess it doesn’t mesh with your fantasy life though?
Are you good?
Seriously, are you?
You seem to only harass others, offer no actual helpful information, and think everyone else is living a fantasy life.
That's more like a bully with a superiority complex trying to cope with inadequacy...
Are you actually good?

What fantasy did I express which ruffled your delicate feathers?

What the putz has forgotten what a bunch of farmers and townies did to an organized group of the most professional army of the day. And they routed these brave ♥ coats with the fowling pieces they brought from home.

Still think April 19th should be our most sacred holiday

An invasion would not be good for anyone. I don't think that even China would try that without nuking the USA first.

In my area of rural mid-Missouri, a big percentage of the folks deer/turkey hunt. As for me, I am almost 80 yo and don't plan on going anywhere. My 30-06 still works and my wife and sil are better marksmen than me, with their "black rifles". I was trained in the Army a long time ago as was many of my friends. That training does not become lost. I may not be able to run like I used to, but I can still hide and shoot just as well as most.

And for the record, We have a backhoe in the barn.

He seems to not have an answer for either Victor Charlie or what the Afghanistan rebels did to the Russians either.
