I have a sawyer bucket adapter system, chemicals, but best of all I have a still. That and my backyard creek ensure I'll never have trouble getting clean drinkable water. I have a post here showing my still.
well the sawyer bucket system doesn't need to be pumped the gravity does it for you. Check them out, I am way happy with mine. Protects against biological contaminants too.
For carry or long term bug in use? For bug out Katadyn and MSR's are top shelf. For bug in than long term is a good hand pumped well from a clean water table or a still. I use a Katadyn Mini for my hiking/bugout use as it's compact and light with one of the highest gallon filtration rates for a carry filter. A bit bigger and very nice is the Pocket, but there too big for me to pack. Ceramic filters in cold weather can be a problem with the residual water in the filter freezing and cracking the filter so if you're up north look towards a charcoal filter.
Since you said purifier that knocks a lot of the hand pumping devices out because they are filters. My favorite purifier is the Steri-pen. It use UV light to kill everything even viruses, bacteria, and protozoa.
