The VVA Chapter I belong to has some members who are also Patriot Guard Riders and we do some joint projects. I quit riding 25+ years ago or else I would probably join them as well. Good bunch of guys.
I value my time in the PGR. It's a mixed bag of honor, sorrow and joy. Regardless of the event that we take on as a mission, I like the fact that our presence draws people's attention and makes them aware that there's something happening that merits their time, respect and honor as US citizens. It helps young people in a family realize the importance of the contribution given by a passed family member. They may be saying goodbye to an uncle, aunt or grandparent, but to others they were soldiers, protectors and sometimes heroes. It feels worthwhile.

Sorry, Sarge. I forgot about them. Although I came close a couple of times, thank goodness I don't qualify.
There's others as well, like Marine Corps League, Fleet Reserve Association, etc.
So, if anyone else can add to the list like SSGT did, please do.

Anyone who has worn the Red Diamond patch of the 5th Infantry Division, in war or peace, check out our unit association -

While I do rides with the PGR I have a thing about joining any motorcycle club.
Lot of good Organization I wish they could pool their power and use it.

I am a Life time member of VFW and and Alumni of WWP.

PGR Gave us an escort home on My first Deployment and Outbound on my second, I am sure they gave us a return escort, but I was sent to a WTB instead. They are a good group and would have my support any day, but with my back injury I will never be on a motorcycle again. Luckily I have a jeep to enjoy the wind in my face again.:-D

Look at WWP's financial statements and you may have a different opinion of them. I did and ran like a scolded dog!
They spend more $$ on salaries and "events" and not so much for the cause. Plus, they do not associate with organizations that are pro 2nd Amendment.

Veteran organizations I financially/actively support:
Navy League of the US - very active in supporting the members of all the sea services; USN, USMC, USCG and US Merchant Marine
Marine Corp League - awesome group of hard working, dedicated Marines
Disabled American Veterans (DAV) - the best rated organization helping our wounded Veterans
Air Power Foundation - they support many veteran programs with their fund raising efforts
Snow Ball Express - If you want to feel truly humbled, attend one of these events.
The American Legion has a disaster relief fund where 100% of the money goes to Legionnaires who suffer from natural disasters such as tornados.
But you have to belong to the Legion to receive the funds.
If you ever take a trip to Australia, have a meal at the local RSL (returned services league) its our biggest veteran organization and dose a lot of good (right now they are begging for Vietnam vets for a study on PTSD to help understand it, and to help this generation/ future generations of our servicemen and woman)

I just wish this country would stop sending so many of our young men and women of to fight in those foreign countries for political reasons and money/power. Don't put American soldier in harms way to nation build. I do support out troops past and present, but am ashamed at how this country treats them for doing the job we send them to do. At least it's is getting better for them when they do come home, but it is no where near what it should be. To me it is utterly stupid that private citizens have to beg for donations to help our VETS when the government gives so much money away to other countries. We give free medical care to foreigners but won't even take care of or own VETS medical needs, no excuse period.
