Welcome from Texas. Since it looks like you may have security covered, your focus will likely need to be water, shelter, and food in the beginning.

Don't get discouraged or overwhelmed by what others who have been at it awhile have accomplished. Start slow and have a plan, and you will slowly get there. The important thing is you have made the decision to start!

Welcome from Michigan. It a good time to start preparing, make it a lifestyle. Changes take time,so don't fret. This board seems to be one of the best as far as knowledge,patience and all around decent folks.

Welcome from Texas... I'm also new here but not to prepping. I'm of the older generation that grew up prepping for winter every year... It is fun to come online and chat with other people this way. I have come to think of the nonpreppers as the Tribe of Clueless Plastic. *lol*

BTW, I love watching "Prospectors". Is it really that easy to dig up gems in the Colorado Rockies?
