As to manueverability with a shotgun, Choate makes, or at least did make, a top folder stock. Metal, not like the old Ramline stocks.

I added some Trijican HD's to my Glock, they have that eerie green radioactive glow that really shows up in the dark. My hallway dictates a left-handed shot, which is easier with a pistol than a long gun.
I went backpacking and at night when you are sleeping in the tent it is so comforting seeing those three little dots glowing and you know just where to reach for you gun.

I use a 12 gauge Remington 870 pump for home defense. I keep it loaded with Hornady TAP FPD 2 3/4" buckshot.

As to why, well, I will just leave this little video here for you to look at when you want to visually witness and understand 12 gauge terminal ballistics:

Terminal Ballistics - Part 2 | Down Range TV.
Ok, I'm impressed. Guess I will have to add that ammo to my list.

We have a Weatherby PA459TR with 2-3/4" 00buck in the mag, but it's probably the last of our options that we would employ.
First choice is a 7" AR Pistol, suppressed, with a 20rd mag of TAP, a switched light and a pretty green laser.
Second choice is an XD-40 with Gold Dots.

First choise for in home, remington 870 with folding sholder stock and pistol grip, fits through doors and around corners. All of you boys advertising 00 buck. Please try some test fires with #4 buck.

00 will have 9 in 2-3/4 .30 caliber pellets 3" will have 12. #4 buck has 41 .24 calliber pellets in a 3" shell, the total weight will be up to 2oz depending on manufacturer, most are 1-7/8.

#4 buck is a better choice than 00. If you can test fire on a juck yard car door you will see the pattern differance.

I will have to look into that, thanks.

I have my old Mossberg 500A 18.5 barrel with about 5000 rounds through it from my competition. I just picked up a Remington 870 Tactical as I was told I would never find what I was looking for. Added Ghost ring sights but the finish is somewhat lacking on the 870.

Then one day I walked into a little LGS and asked about a Mossberg 9 round Model 590A1 20 inch and they said no way but he had something else. Looking down at the black powder rifle rack there it was.

Complete with heavy barrel, dual extractors 8 round tube, dual barrel hangers, combat sights and bayo lug, steel trigger guard and HD reciever. Not the old Mossberg but the one the Military has adopted these day.

My son bought a Remington 887 Nitro Magnum Tactical Shotgun. 18" barrel that is chambered to accept shells up to 3.5 inches. It is one wicked shotgun.

Winchester 1300 defender for me. Standard pistol grip stock/ 6 shell side saddle/ 5 shell buttcuff/ surefire mount,light/ 8 round factory tube. @ 2 cases of 00, 000 mixed and roughly 100 slugs. Like mine weighed down to absorb some of that 3 inch slugs//buckshot.

I just purchase a TriStar Tec 12. It is a close copy of the Benelli M3 Convertable. The Tec 12 is a semi-auto and a pump all in one. So far I love this shotgun. It's 5 plus1, but a Benelli tube ext will fit it. In semi-auto this gun will flat put the rounds out. To early yet, but so far this is one bad shotgun!! I also have a Mossberg pump with a pistol grip. For up close home defense it is a shotgun and pistol. For longer range defense, for me AR15.
