Starting

Let me welcome you to the group, so welcome from southern AZ. There are a lot of options when it comes to prepping. Some people prepare by purchasing extra food, etc. Some preppers realize they need to be able to protect themselves and their families, even extended families. But letting that extended family know you are prepared for a disaster could be a mistake. While living in the peoples republic of Illinois, I had only one extended family member (unmarried sister-in-law) to be worried about. I let her know if something really bad happened, to get to our house (30 minutes away). Much later, I found out she consider my preps to be near insanity and told many of her friends about my insanity. At an evening out to celebrate her birthday, one of her friends at the get together, put 2 and 2 together and realized I was the insane member of the family who was prepared. "You're the nutty one with all the food and stuff, aren't you? I know where I'm going if everything goes to hell," she blurted out.
"Did she tell you I collect firearms," was my retort.
