Are you well versed reference: "Special Snowflake Syndrome".....???
You confuse being able to say something with having something to say & willfully offending people with people being sensitive.

You refuse to correct behavior you justify with unearned indignance & denounce all those who speak to you, even those willing to help, as snowflakes. Based on your "contributions" thus far, you sir, have nothing to add of value.

Then PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE put me on Ignore. It will not offend me and will save me the need of replying to one more special snowflake who is in prepping as a hobby and entertainment.

Oh please, whether you admit it or not, you want an audience. I'm offended only by those I would seek advice from. Not you.

You say you want to help, then your actions tell all watching the opposite. As far as I can see, you seem to know nothing of prepping, casually or otherwise.

Then STOP with the sniveling crybaby stuff, and "Man-up" and put me on ignore.

To clarify apparent confusion, that isn't how the ignore feature works.
Any member that has set you to "ignore" won't see your posts, but you will still see theirs. You would not be notified of another's ignore being enabled. Your personal distress would not be abated by their action. Your desire to respond would remain intact.

Works for me. See I figure only those who are serious on this forum about prepping will have interest in my posts. The rest just pretenders in it for the entertainment, and verbal masturbation about their Bug'out Bagggie.
You can post whatever you like, though I don't know why you would continue to waste your time on us.
But if you continue with the underhanded insults meant only to harass other members, you won't be here much longer.
Understood?

And would the "TRUE" net result of your banning me, in anyway result in my exposure to shockingly enhanced probability of failing to survive...???

While you remain in denial of your woven position on this forum, you are "RING RAT", by James Clavell.

Plot: Corporal King is an anomaly in the Japanese prison camp. One of only a handful of Americans amongst the British and Australian inmates, he thrives through his conniving and black market enterprises, while others, nearly all of higher rank, struggle to survive sickness and starvation while trying to retain their civilized standards. King recruits upper class British RAF officer Flight Lieutenant Peter Marlowe to act as a translator. As they become acquainted, Marlowe comes to like the man and appreciate his cunning. King respects Marlowe, but his attitude is otherwise ambiguous; when Marlowe is injured, King obtains expensive medicines to save Marlowe's gangrenous arm from amputation, but, despite the fact he stays by the sick man's bedside, it is unclear whether he does so out of friendship or because Marlowe is the only one who knows where the proceeds from King's latest and most profitable venture are hidden.

Grant yourself a "survival" grasp to retain your power, "Man-up" and BAN me. It will be no loss for me.

Since your time here has provided nothing of substance, it would be no loss to the rest of us either.
You are officially out of warnings.
Any reply had better be on topic and composed. If you are incapable of self-control, it will become evident very shortly.

Anyone have thoughts on the 18w Thunderbolt solar charger from Harbor Freight?
Hello kind sir. Before I address your question, I would like to express where this opinion derives from:

Whether a person buys from a custom builder, famous maker, commercial grade, consumer grade, or at their local Dollar store, the consumer buys the product based on possible personal guidelines: size, color, shape, features, price, brand, warranty, durability, etc.. No two people are likely to have the exact same requirements on all fronts, but they will share some aspects of guidelines.

I have been going through my closets, tool drawers. and cabinets and checking on the functionality of all my equipment (after some) being in storage for so many years. Power tools like Craftsman, and the older power tools of Black & Decker (not newer tools, they were a good tool maker back in the day) were still recharging or functioning within parameters. Sadly though, some of my equipment that I tried saving a buck on like my Stanely staple gun (brand name is good, I just bought the cheapest model is all), one of my rechargeable drills, few crescent wrenches, flashlights, world radio, etc., all ended up being damaged from long term storage.

Because of Stanely's Rock Solid Warranty, and since they no longer make something this light duty, they replaced it for me free of charge with a more heavy-duty version. Other than that, all my other failed equipment got junked.

Most of all that was junked were electronics based. I heard someone mention getting solar panels from Amazon and I agree with Trihonda hold heartedly that isn't the best option unless you are choosing a Name brand, & even then careful on the seller you get it from.

We have a Harbor Freight store here in NY. The only big price tag item I ever bought there was a generator, & usually went in when they had unbelievable sales on hand trucks, Mover's dollies, work gloves, tarps, LED flashlights, etc.. Everything that I bought there that was not electronical still functions a decade later, but all the electronics (with exception of multimeters & alternator testers) are all dead as a doornail.

Considering your Solar panel does not have electronic components, this may be a solid purchase.

Does it have weight? yes
Is it too bulky to pack? meh
Would I carry a Solar panel with me? Yep

Conclusion:

As i mentioned in my opening statement, people have several factors that influence what they purchase. For me, I would personally prefer something different, something Military/NASA grade if it was intended to be used for a survival situation. That is me though, and does not mean that over the years that this is going to leave you high and dry, fact it may run perfectly without problems. I just would prefer the peace of mind having a brand name that I know and trust. Mind you, my primary personal guideline is always Durability, or should i say a "Pattern" of having a companies' products being called durable.

If you changed your criteria of your initial question and changed it to " what do you think of this solar panel for everyday stuff?" my reply would be "Holy crap, 25% off a Solar panel that is already at a discounted tool store, nice!!!

Ignoring "Long-Term durability" Many of the reviews I have read on this specific product are good, a few even saying, that these solar panels, and I quote, "Are Bad @$$".

Trihonda, I am not sure if you are using this addon software to your browser, but it is called the Capital One Shopping app link Capital One Shopping

Using that app I came across the same panel New condition, free shipping & handling & tax free if you are not from NY going for under $50
Thunderbolt 18W Foldable Solar Panel Item 57968 | eBay

I am not sure if Harbor Freight does "Price Matching" but if they do, maybe this can save you an additional $15 on your purchase with HF, if so, glad I could help.

BTW, ty for posting this, I may pick one up myself if I can get it for $50. (sadly got to pay taxes since I live in NY too)

lol, this is the arrogance that invalidates anything useful you might have to add.

also funny that you insert yourself into threads, post content (or share your expertise) completely unrelated to the OP, and do so in an argumentative manner…. then call anyone who isn’t interested in your unsolicited expertise, a “snowflake”. Lol. That’s some supreme level arrogant BS right there. Good luck to you.

PS. inserting argumentative BS that’s not related to the OP, is the very definition of “trolling”.

Nice post. Thanks. I didn’t think to check out ebay. I wonder if this is used or new? But it’s currently listed for $48 now. Might be a good score if you don’t have to pay a ton for shipping?

edit, I see it says “new” and shipping is free…. Kewl.

No Problem Sir... & again forgive past comments on prior threads... Being a loner and antisocial may translate to me not being able to articulate in a manner that is not offensive to others at times, & for that I am sorry.

With regard to Ebay, I never thought of that either, and I cannot take credit, as it was given to me by that addon I mentioned Capital One Shopping who's link is in my previous thread above. It is an app that searches through the internet for cheaper prices for the product you are searching for. Most of the time it gives you a better offer, with exception at times where one has free shipping & it is not included in their calculations for savings.

Since our last interaction I did some further research and came up with a preventative measure: One of the problem's that some face with these products that are foldable, is that where it folds, tears forms which lead to wire shorts. A possible solution is to carefully tape the seams at the folding points so when these tears arise, the tape holds it together preventing the wires underneath from shorting.

Another heads up: As you probably already know, & this is more for those that may not know, your initial Solar panel Volt reading probably will lose up to 20% of the total initial voltage that you record over the months ahead as the Solar panel "adjusts" or should i say it is like a new pair of sneakers that change characteristics as one wears them everyday.

Enjoy your product kind Sir and by all means over the years give us updates on your product.

I have never "Fully" understood the GHB.
BOB "Yes",
INCH Bag "Yes".
GHB I have an unclear idea and bewildered about its workability.
I work about a 30 minute drive from my house. An east coast EMP/cyber attack could have me hiking that trip home, which would take most of a day assuming no weather or unforeseen situations.

I don’t have the best GHB at the moment, but I do have a few basics to start, and I pray I never need them.

My Truck, named E.L.E., is my GHT. Fact is, it pretty much is a portable command center; in a SHTF, I could set up base camp for a couple of squads with what I got in that truck. Whether I get home or not I would be good to go.
