Some of us have been on top of this development and have been using the c.m.e. Thread for information exchange . This horrific threat deserves it's own thread .

Ben Davidson

quote:

"Ben Davidson, the founder of SpaceWeatherNews and the YouTube channel Suspicious0bservers, is not a formally recognized scientist in the fields of astronomy, space physics, or geophysics.

"He is a science communicator and independent researcher known for collecting and presenting data on space weather, solar activity, earthquakes, and Earth's magnetic field. His content often highlights patterns and anomalies, aiming to raise public awareness about potential planetary-scale events.

"While Davidson references scientific data from reputable sources like NASA, NOAA, and the USGS, his interpretations and some of the theories he promotes—such as catastrophic pole shifts or electromagnetic changes affecting Earth—are not supported by mainstream science and are considered speculative or pseudoscientific by experts."

Despite presenting himself as a space weather analyst, he has no formal scientific training in astronomy or related fields Citation 4quoraCitation 9sourcewatch. His channel, started in May 2011, has gained a substantial following with over half a million subscribers and nearly 200 million views as of 2022 Citation 2fandom.
Davidson’s content often includes speculative and pseudoscientific ideas, such as catastrophic cosmic cycles and magnetic pole shifts, which have been criticized and debunked by climate scientists and experts in the field Citation 2fandomCitation 4quora. From polteregist:

It is not lost on me ,some can not fantom the dark depths of my prepper slash survivalist mind . Usually my postings are not meant in malice toward anyone , but are based on my prepper thinking process . Yes some can't grasp that level of thinking and their often reaction is anger

I’m sorry some here have let you down. /sarc

Some of us enjoyed Sun Picture’s The late, Great, Planet Earth and Chariots of the Gods back in the day. The modern internet versions are quite entertaining as well. I just have likely events to prep for. No anger from me, Im just more concerned about power outages, hurricanes, WWIII and such.

Until corrected , I will presume the quoted post is due to another member opening the link , that I clearly put the warning ' this video may not be suitable for some ' . It appears me putting that warning was much justified . It ain't poltireist's fault if some did not heed that warning and felt uncomfortable with what they found . Poltergeist did not make that video but only put it forth for consumption by serious preppers nor did poltiregist proclaim anything on that video as factual . It is simply information that some preppers seek so they can take appropriate responses .

Thanks for the reply . My mistake , as i knew we had one member open it , then complain about it , so I just guessed we had a repeat . For curious members that have not opened that link will just say it goes into a dark realm that just ain't suitable for some . --- reading the sentence on the earth had a timeline in which to flip . I don't recall a timeline . I may have to watch it again to see about that timeline . --- Something seems to be going over some's head as in their thinking process . I have been trying to be nice and not point something out but under the circumstances will . Serious preppers seek the most horrific forecasts . Why - so they can prepare for the worst case scenarios . Some only prepare for moderate or minor events and do not want to hear about something that they are not willing to face . Now whether that horrific forecast ever materializes , doesn't matter with me , as in whether it happens are not , I am willing to face it and hopefully prepare for it . That humility comment , nope i don't apologize for taking prepping to a serious level .

I couldn't help myself. I had to ask Grok again, since we now know the actual claim was a crustal movement of 90 degrees.
I picked up from my previous exchange, so it already knew the original request.

Here was my new request:
I have a different scenario that may change the numbers a bit. I'd like a re-evaluation and an output requirement in joules (with examples for clarity) on the following:

What would it take for the entire crust of the earth to detach from the mantle and rotate 90 degrees (in any direction) such that the former pole positions are now in line with the equator. Let's simplify and assume the earth is a sphere.
And here is the summary answer it provided: (my emphasis added)
Final Answer
The energy required to detach the Earth’s crust from the mantle and rotate it by 90 degrees, aligning the former poles with the equator, is approximately 6.242×10^27 J. This is equivalent to ~16.4 seconds of the Sun’s energy output, ~62,420 Chicxulub impacts, or ~10.4 million years of global energy consumption. This estimate is highly simplified, and the actual energy would likely be higher due to unaccounted dissipative forces and structural complexities. Such an event is physically implausible and would have catastrophic consequences.
Like I said, nobody is surviving this, irrespective of preparation, and it's absurd on its face.

I'm more than happy to share the entire exchange (via link), and anyone who wants to critique the math is free to do so. Just ask.

it has been surprising to me that this topic has received so much attention . As you guys know , I actually placed the opening salvo on the C.M.E. thread as a simple one post expectation . Frankly the uproar over it , i suspect has more to do with " who placed it " than what the contents were . I can't imagine anyone getting their drawers in a wad over such a unlikely occurrence . As I said , I look for the worst so I can prepare for the worst . If someone can't face a horrific scenario then they can't prep for it , regardless what that event might be . Prepping is simply something that has become much of a hobby .

To subdue any misconceptions, I don't know you from Adam. Others seem to know you from other places. I've never been a member of those other boards, so I've never run across your other content that may be elsewhere.
What I do know is a basic understanding of physics, and more specifically, the laws of motion.
When I see a claim such as the one presented, glaring red flags go up, and I immediately try to inform everyone involved that they are following a charlatan. One of the best skills a prepper can have is threat recognition. We often only think of preparing for environmental, financial, or governmental problems, whether large or small. But we often ignore the "people problem". We try our best to spot the folks we think may become violent, but we often miss the grifters because they're very good at what they do, and can infiltrate any group. Unless we are reasonably critical of their propositions on a consistent basis, we will drop our guard, and they can take advantage of it.

Unfortunately, they have often been working their craft for quite a while, and have developed a loyal following. It's easy to do. They just have to make sure that most of what they say is true, or at least plausible. This makes it easier to sprinkle in the absurd stuff that drives clicks, and people still believe they're credible.
If I had to guess, you've watched a fair bit of that person's content, and most of it is perfectly reasonable. Tracking sun spots and solar weather is a normal thing that scientists do. That builds credibility. But making predictions about events that have provably never happened before as if they have, and are about to happen again (and are so absurd as to call reality itself into question), should shatter credibility and cause a tremendous loss of followers.

So yes, the claim is absurd and not at all likely. The claim itself isn't so much the issue. It's the person making the original claim who is leading others to believe it. How many other such claims have failed to come to fruition? Why does such a person plan conferences a year in advance if they truly believe a "near extinction level event" is imminent? We must always be critical of anyone who makes a living in the "prepper space". Are they actually knowledgeable and want to offer their valuable information and skills for a fair value? Or are they a silver-tongued swindler who's found another audience of unsuspecting folks to squeeze?
Based on this claim, the guy who runs the Space Weather News channel seems to be the latter. Hopefully you and he are not the same person. And hopefully you'll be more critical of his claims going forward after this one was rightfully shredded to pieces.
