But my friend is more than a friend..
My friend that died this past April introduced me to my best friend over 23 years ago, sadly he too died several years ago. I wouldn't call him a brother in arms though, despite him being taller than I was, and the athletic type; he had no hand-to-hand combat training, shooting, or martial arts training, and there were a few times he had gotten too drunk & I had to put him in his place, or got too drunk and I had to get him out of a sticky situation (usually meant for me a 1 vs 2 fight since he couldn't fight to save his life, literally) .
I digress, my point though is that there was a time I had a guy friend that was close to me as you do with your friend, just not anymore. My best friend now lives rather far from me in another state; a real Bad A$$, gun wielding, tough, smart, with I think 10 grandchildren now, oh, and it is a she, and she and her husband I trust.
Since my wife has no idea about much of this long term supply, I certainly can't keep 100 buckets in my home...
That I can truly appreciate Mate. My Ex of 28 years was a vegetarian, and lived life 'by the day", meaning as if there was not a tomorrow. When the Lockdown began, there was no food left on the shelves at the supermarket. I personally was well off, but her being a vegetarian, and the shelves bare, the only reason that she had food on the table was because I had hidden food that she could eat in the basement, (rice, pasta, mashed potatoes, canned veggies, canned meatless Spaghetti O's).
Kind of hard to take care of one's family when it is our family that is preventing us form taking care of them, ie. complaining about storing food, etc.
She waited until my 2nd Covid Vaccine dose to kick me out of her life. Came home, door locks changed, she wasn't home, all my stuff was outside on the porch. Made as many trips as I could bringing my stuff to another location of mine, but by the next day the rest of my possessions she had donated and or thrown away. Lost about 75 % of my preps & gear that was there, joint bank account, and 2 freezers full to the brim with meat (sadly the stuff that was thrown out).
Just like you it seems, 90% of my main preps and gear was located somewhere else, and despite the loss of thousands upon thousands of dollars, where I am now is almost 10 times the gear & preps and now, all within reach at a moment's notice. Sadly though, no freezer as of now, I need to do major electrical upgrade to handle the juice, and I have just not had the time, so canning, dehydration are the new go to's.
