Whew! Welcome to Texas, if you dont like the weather just wait a few.

Had a cold front come through last night and didnt get to score on any fish this morning after work.

27 Jan

Scored on 4 festively plump Hybrids in the 5 lbs range. I was fishing under a flood light at night at the end of the Marina dock closest to open water. I got all 4 on a light spinning reel with 6 lbs test and a 1/8th ounce Red head Road Runner Jig with a pearl white solid tube body. It was a blast!

Scored on 3 Hybrids in the 3-4 lbs range and another one in the 6 lbs range that seriously tested the drag and the line! All of these were taken on a Japanese brand knock off of the Yozuri slash bait in the 5 gram weight size. The hooks were mangled after these 4 got finished with it...need new hooks now. It was in a rainbow trout pattern and I will definitely have to watch the store for more in that color pattern! I also took in 2 Sand Bass (aka...Sandies or White Bass depending on what part of the country you live in). I took both of these on the same Road Runner Jig I used the previous night

I tried but I just couldnt get any love. Of course it was 20 plus degrees cooler and a wind from hell out of the north wasnt helping much either. Maybe Thursday will be better...

My boss might have thought he was killing a big bear (long story about the "Good Ol Boy Network) but if he only knew how much FUN I was having at the Marina when I clock out at the end of my shift... When life gives you lemons, you might as well make lemon-aide right? The best part? It aint even spring yet!!! The last time I did a fill in shift at the Marina I ended my shift with a 77 lbs Flathead. So stay tuned as I intend to do that again.

Man I was going to try my luck again this morning but God obviously has a conspericy to screw up my day! The last two nights at work have started out great and warm and full of potential. Then about midnight or so the winds change from the south to the north at gale force speeds and the temp takes a 30 degree nose dive! I felt like a human popcicle tonight at work!!! Thank God I live south of the Mason Dixon line... Will have to see what Sunday brings.

I used to fish out of White Rock, between Forestville and Harbor Beach, before the 100 fish limit, which is now 50? A few 16"- 17" yellow bellies weren't uncommon amongst the rest of the 10"-12" er's

We quit going about 15 years ago.

We used to get browns at Grindstone off the beach, maybe we got them all.
