Hi Clingmanpa. I'm also from PA. Welcome! It's always better late than never, so don't worry. You'll be fine. Just delve into it and hit the high points first, then the smaller things will come. It takes a lot of work and time (and money!), as I'm sure you've already figured out.
We're holding onto our guns also. After being raised by a Fundamentalist Christian mother and having bad experiences with religion in general I've decided to part ways with religion, but I totally understand where you are coming from.
