So, hubs decided we needed to put away more food for storage...you know, rice, beans etc. The stuff you really hate to spend money on and wish your grown kids would perhaps put more effort into.

So, we hit the grocery store a few times in the last two weeks. I have been generally successful with this. I went $1 over our budget that we set. Darn close given I just threw stuff from my list into the carts.

Today, I hit the candy aisle. (in all my preps, I have never done this.) You know, for the grandkids to have a treat now and then as we sit in our hidey-hole.:D

I truly meant to make trail mix and squirrel it away, truly, I did.....well, one large bag is almost gone.

I have no one to blame but myself. Hubby is having the last laugh, because he said I would eat them, alas, he was right. I am telling myself, I bought an extra bag, because I planned to eat them....but, really, between you and me, I didn't. I ate my prep.

I better stick to rice and beans.

It's okay - I eat my preps, too, truth be known. I look at it as a reward for planning ahead.

Candy is good for boosting morale and keeping people's spirits up. I always get peanuts and cashews, and walnuts, pecans or pistachios once in awhile as a special treat.

Prepping should be fun in addition to being worthwhile.

My prep of the day was putting rail ladders on three of my guns. It was a fun evening project, and protects the guns from damage to the rails. Plus, it looks cool and keeps the rails from acting like a cheese grater against bare skin.

And, I confess, I ate some cashews when I took a break. And I liked it...!

I totally enjoyed eating my prep.;-) I'm not even feeling so guilty any more, maybe because earlier today, I picked me up a nice but used (and probably old) Union, Made in the USA pitchfork:evil: at the flea market. I bet the devil made me eat my prep, lol. ;) As I was leaving the flea market, a man asked my husband if he picked that up for me for Mother's Day. I told him, 'No, I am getting a broom!'
