He's not done just yet. He was walking his daughters bulldogs when it got loose and killed a sea lion in Laguna BeachGood, he has had his 15 minutes of fame.
No they have a waiting period of close to a month in CA so he didn't leave with it. Now is it a straw purchase, well not really as he was buying it for his use and not for someone else. Even if the purchase was to prove a point he still can't be charged with a straw purchase. It was actually a pitbull, now I have not seen or read the story yet on the "rescinding" his purchase. I don't understand. Did he have a waiting period like we suffer in CA? I thought he already walked out of the store with the gun; is the store owner saying bring it back?
From my understanding he didn't purchase the AR for his own use and planned on turning it over to authorities. In his words he purchased the AR to prove a point on background checks and how easy it is for someone to get their hands on an AR. He also purchased a hand gun which he said he had planned on keeping. Not sure of the laws out there but I thought you had to state the reasons for the purchase. And lying about those reasons was a crime. But I'm not up on that many of the gun laws in alot of states. No they have a waiting period of close to a month in CA so he didn't leave with it. Sorry the purchase was in AZ and CA is another story involving his seal killing dog. I also assume that AZ has a waiting period also. Now buying a gun to rafle would be the same as buying it for future sale which is legal really and not a straw purchase. Oh and I've bought a number of guns trough FFL gun shops and was never asked if the gun was for me on the background check at least that I remember. As a matter of fact the background check doesn't ask for any information on the gun being purchased. Oh and I've done it in several states over the years since back ground checks became required..They live in CA now? I thought they were in AZ? Yes if he purchased anything modern in CA he'd have to wait 10 days. I'm not sure what his status is in the military and how that impacts him in CA; if he was LE in CA just about all the rules are waived. They did that to keep the police unions on board with their demands for gun regulations.
