Hello,

Like the title says… I’ve been prepping since the mid 2000’s. I have since found that I did almost everything wrong. Of coarse.. Any prep is better than no prep, right?

We live in a medium size community “10,000 people” in the great state of Oklahoma. We are a family of 6 + 2 dogs. I have plans to purchase at least 40 acres in the middle of nowhere to use as a bugout/escape. Trees, creeks, ponds.. The whole 9. Until then this is where I’ll be.

Believe me doing it wrong is far better than not at all. I can speak for experience. How well (or not) do you think your small town would come together in a situation? Just curious. I know my home town would do great. They are great people. A lot of Preppers, churches, community groups, etc. that said I feel so bad for my home town because it's on the direct path of 3 million people trying to bug out to the hills. Hardly anything a good little town of 20,000 can do in that crisis.

Hello Ripon, Thanks for the reply..

I live in a very diverse community. We have ALL KINDS of people. Unfortunately… about half live their lives dependent on the government in one form or another. I’m assuming we’ll have approximately 5000 zombies when the SHTF. I am prepping for staying home until I can move my family out of town and transition to a more “live off the land” lifestyle. Hopefully I can do that sooner rather than later.

Half is about the norm actually. I know my home town has its ready to be zombies. Funny thing is I think they will be the first one's to run for the hills thinking it'd be the right thing to do. That would be the same thing the 3 million bay area residents will think as they pass thru. I once told our Mayor "blow the bridge" on the highway. At least that way they'd have to find another way across the river and it wouldn't be your town. He's a prepper I know; and didn't laugh. I was just curious if a small town in OK had good people, I assumed it would have more good folks then CA anytime. I often wonder if some of the small towns might do allright. They'd be too big for gangs to handle, but too small to stop an influx of zombie types too. Good luck; thanks for the reply, and like I said any prep is better than none. When I started the only things I had going for me was guns and land.

To be honest my town "Guthrie" is filled with great people. Oklahoma in general has really good people that will give you the shirt off their back. The problem is… When your family is starving and your not prepared.. I think they all turn into San Franfreako refugees.

Welcome from Texas.

I like OK and that is my 2nd choice for a BOL if there is enough time AND I can pull it off. Texas is still my 1st choice.
Texas is a great neighbor to have, and when they secede... I hope we go with'm.

I would only live in Oklahoma, or Texas. I'm a right of Regan conservative and prefer to be in the majority. I visited California once.. In my opinion the world would be a better place without it.

I used to say live and let live......

Now now, not all of California is like that. And despite its radical left turn it still produces more food then Texas and OK - combined :) My dad was a farmer here, his dad was, and I'll be a farmer in Nevada to which they would agree is far better than trying to remain one here.

I like Texas well enough and I agree that I will go there if/when they decide to secede again. But I will say the BBQ in Oklahoma City better. Smoked bologna is the best!

As long as you are trying to prep you are doing good. It took ma a while to get started but now I am getting a good supply of a number of things that will help me along. All you have to do is pay attention to what people say on this forum and keep making your plans for when the SHTF, and it will. You are going to be OK.

Sorry Ripon, I don't consider Jefferson state as part of California. As for the rest... You can keep it. Still friends? lol
