A new case of Avian Influenza H7N9 has been reported in Hebei, China. A 61 year old female.

I suspect we will see H7N9 lurking around in China for a while before it becomes efficient at human to human transmission. It is highly transmissible in ferrets, which is a good model for humans, so I surmise at some point, it will become more efficient at human to human.

Nothing to panic about, but, H7N9 has not gone away.

There is a group of devoted people who actually watch this stuff and translate it. You can run it thru a translator online....you may get a laugh or two out of it.

I'll try google translate - oh and thanks!
Son of Guangdong victim has fever. No test results yet.
H5N1 is still out there too. It and H7N9 both have very high mortality rates - as does MERS - so if any of them ever mutate to become highly person to person contagious while retaining even just a fourth of their lethality, the world is in for some big trouble.

BTW, colloidal silver is probably the only thing that could "cure" somebody with one of these deadly viral infections.

The Saudi Kingdom stated there were NO cases of MERS-nCoV during Ramadan. It's a miracle!! pfft. Ok well, now cases are occurring. The newest one is in Qatar, and there has been little information, other than it's a 59 year old man with a history of travel outside of Qatar. I believe there was one other case announced. I have had the occasion recently to really see how little information can escape a zone any where in the world where the powers that be don't want news escaping. It's astounding how much information gets suppressed and not just by the Saudis.
I know.... I follow PrepperZone.net on Twitter and I read an article they forwarded saying that a whole new strain of H7 related viruses has been discovered. E-gad.
Just an update to the no new cases of nCoV during Ramadan. Thus far, reports are inconsistent. I have seen a report from Saudi, stating "3 or 4 cases", a case in Qatar- a person with a travel history and lastly, today 'confirmed 2 cases in Saudi' (however different reports are giving different ages and genders of those 2 confirmed cases). I suspect we will continue to get nonsense since really, the Saudi Kingdom has more to be concerned with than nCoV at this point, given the entire Middle East is falling apart. We won't get any honest information for a while. I don't feel they have a handle on it. On H7N9, I haven't heard anything other than the one Guangdong case. I do know an intern was jailed for blogging about H7N9 in China. (Big Brother is watching you.) There are several H7 strains, most of them of low pathogenicity. Both of these diseases are still on the emerging front of animal to human transmission. I suspect we will hear of more nCoV in a month or so.
I have seen several reports of additional cases all of the numbers are inconsistent. I would say roughly 8 to 10 new cases up to now. Today, it was announced that a 16 year old and 7 year old contacts of a confirmed case, also have asymptomatic nCoV. Any numbers we have coming out of Saudi Arabia, are announced by their Ministry of Health.

Any sources of info not under the House of Saudi's thumb?
The real problem is that this is a highly mobile society. Some guy in a little South Texas town can be in China tomorrow an back here next week. My neighbor is in China now. The Black Plague took years to travel. Now it takes weeks.
I have to admit I have mixed feelings about a pandemic - On one hand it would be an incredibly damaging event on many levels, possibly affecting everyone on an intimate basis. On the other hand, we are due for a house cleaning and I can think of several places and regions I won't be crying over if they get wiped out.

it's a toughie.
The Black Plague and many beneficial effects.
