I own a home near the ocean in Huntington Beach. It's an extremely safe neighborhood with a surprisingly conservative community by socal standards. Nevertheless I know that the beach cities could easily turn into death traps in a SHTF situation. Even if I prep with food and survival supplies to hunker down for 3 to 6 months or more, the real danger would be the hordes of starving people flooding the coastal areas.
I'm considering renting the property and moving to a rural community out of state, but I wonder if it's even worth keeping the property here. I wonder what would really happen to the rich coastal enclaves if there was a serious supply chain breakdown. Barely anyone I know has any desire to prep for even the most basic inconvenience.
Is Socal a lost cause?
