In the earliest stages of prepping.

I have always been one to be organized, make lists, and have plans and backup plans galore. Currently, I am in the list-making and knowledge-gathering phase of prepping. I do have one advantage, though. I am married to a SERE (Survival-Evasion-Resistance-Escape) instructor, and much of the very useful supplies and knowledge has been provided by our nation's military.
For quite a while now, I was convinced--like a sad majority of our country's citizens--that our freedoms would always exist and America, as the founding fathers created it, would always prevail. I thought that the reason things seemed to be getting worse was that I was just paying more attention to the state of affairs, etc. But for the past year, or so, I have begun to realize that it was more than that. Something awful--be it solar flares killing the power grid, total economic collapse, our own president hating our country enough to turn America into a socialist nation, all of the above--is imminent; completely unavoidable... I'm not telling anyone on here anything new, I realize. I just wanted to give everyone some background on myself and my situation so that people can help with any and all advice on how to put my lists and plans into action. Thanks!

I was 1T1X0 Aircrew life support stationed at fairchild for my last two years, and worked with a couple of the 1T1X1s during my 6 years in ... welcome ... how do you like Spokane? Is Airway Heights still a trainwreck of a place?
We actually really liked Spokane, but have since PCSed. Hoping to possibly retire to Fairchild, but lately I've been thinking off-the-grid in Montana would be a better option. :)
if you have the ability and resources off grid anywhere is a good option, the only problem with off grid typically ends up being comms. depending on how you do it.
I don't think its going to matter where anyone lives, communication is going to be a major issue. We, as human beings, depend so entirely on technology. Thinking in terms of solar flares, power grid failure, satellites malfunctioning, etc. It's gonna throw the whole country/planet into panic.
Hello and welcome to the forum from Arkansas. I think prepping done properly always starts slow and methodical. We did not get into this condition overnight and we cannot be prepared for it overnight. One precise step at a time, do not excede your budget and keep on plugging. You will get there which to me is the point where you can sleep well at night knowing that you can take care of yourself and your family in the event that SHTF.
Ty. ;) I'm originally from PA, but military life dictates where we live.
Welcome! Love the blatant disregard for the niceties! Lol. Sounds like you've got a good head start. Also sounds like you've got your eyes open (badumbum).
Blatant disregard for niceties?

Lol! No fluff to the introduction. Got right in there with some strong opinions. It's nice to see people with a fire lit. :D
Hello and welcome from New Mexico! I wish more people would wake up and see the truths that exist in our world today. If more people would open their eyes, maybe some changes could be made. Thanks for being here!
Thank you for the compliment then, MountainMan. I'm not an abrasive person or anything. I just get very into things that I strongly believe in and go whole hog. I don't intentionally ignore manners (lol). But as for having a fire lit: Oh yeah.
I initially got into politics about two yrs ago, and started to get VERY angry and frustrated at what was being done to our country. I managed to open quite a few people's eyes to the atrocities the politicians were committing. I can only hope that I can show friends and family that prepping isn't something that only "conspiracy theorists" do; that it's a reality and a necessity for everyone...
And thanks for the welcome, amym505! I'm very excited to have found this site and this community! ::clapping::
What you cannot escape, you must fight; What you cannot fight, you must endure.
What you cannot escape, you must fight; What you cannot fight, you must endure

you can always fight... better to die on your feet, than live on your knees... that is what many of us have forgotten. Maybe not here... but a lot of our countrymen have.
