I saw and heard something Saturday night that just makes me wanna ask, Are you ready?
I saw and heard tires schreeching and a motor rev, then happened to see a dodge dakota in the fast lane, wipe out two cars directly beside it, before flipping and ending up on its side, in a parking lot. Very quickly someone was climbing out the sunroof, and as we turned around to go try and help, realized there was more than enough help, two water department trucks had already started diverting traffic, and all involved were walking around.
I think the dodge was racing someone, becouse as soon as it rolled, a bunch of young teenagers seemed to appear out of many vehicles, and go to the scene. I hope everyone was ok. We drove away as the police were checking the driver of the dakota.
What, pray tell does this have to do with prepping, and why did it effect me so deeply?
Becouse, Im pretty sure the two innocent vehicles that got smashed up and possibly injured were just like me, headed home with the family after a nice dinner.
BAM.
If you died today, right now, is your "stuff in order"?
Does your signifigant other know your wishes?
Will your children be taken care of?
Is your car insured?
Is your life insured?
Most importantly, is your soul insured?
Me and the soon to be wife, yes, soon to be..had a long talk that night, which we have needed to have, about what to do in such and such, about life support, value of "self dependance", retirement homes, all kinds of things.
Two things we didn't have to cover, FAITH in the fact that we have done what we can to get to heaven, and our Love for each other.
Hug them, make damn sure that the people you love KNOW that you love them.

only insurance I have is in my super, life wishes are made known (I don't want to be a burn victim, I would rather die)

post death wishes, put me in the ground

life support, on doctors recommendation, (give me a fighting chance)

to my spirit, if god has mercy I'm in with a chance, otherwise I'm screwed, I am against what the church has become, very strongly against it, if Jesus was here, he would go mental (like he did in the bible)

ok my life wishes are now known here to :)

You have to get as many copies of your living will, powers of attorney and last will to have one for each medical center you visit or might visit, your lawyer, family members, spouse and close friends. You need to appoint an executor for your estate - can't be spouse or family member - and alternates for everything. It all has to be notarized and witnessed by two people not family members. If you don't have the documentation then it all goes into escrow and the court decides who gets what and the creditors come first. If you own property transfer ownership prior to your death - the transfer can be for $10 and they own it - they won't have to pay the death taxes. We have bills of sale for everything we own. It is signed and ready for a date and a signature from the new owner. There is a trust set up to pay the taxes on the property and a small maintenance fund.

Am I ready? Yes, I think so.....

A very relevant topic that has been on my mind a lot lately. I have become well aware my wishes are not collected and ready to communicate effectively. I know for a fact there are some assets I doubt my family will have a lot of interest in keeping and would likely sell for pennies on the dollar if I don't better communicate the best avenues and paths to liquidate.

Neither of our wills have been updated in awhile.

Yes it is. Another thing serving in the military teaches you. Have the ducks all lined up. While I do not recommend unlimited power of attorney for everyone.
We have it. Last week My wife went to pick up some stuff for me. The person was being a jerk. Only MR can pick it up. She stuck the Power of attorney in her face.
Will is reviewed anything things change, but they are also written in such away they cover things no madder what.
Things we do not wish to list in a will have already been taken care of with the children.
