Maybe someone can speak to "realistic" treatment in a wilderness environment with no hope of extraction for very long time, if ever.

Mountains of information on treatment in hospital, very little, if any about dealing with it, if little or nothing is available.

Remove, Dry, rewarm, protect, evac. That’s it. What more “realistic“ are you looking for?
The "problem" is zero ways to evacuate for several weeks, if ever. Next problem is how do you dry anything if there is no way to dry anything.

I am "NOT" attacking you. What I can bring to this forum is five decades of seeing what is assumed about survival, as contrasted with 50 years of living and working in a survival environment. What gets posted on forums is the easy "EVERYONE KNOWS" answers. But many don't work in a survival environment.

When people envision bugging out post SHTF, they truly envision fairly good conditions, they don't envision 46 degrees below zero or 106 above zero, nor torrential down pour, or six feet of snow.

I have personally delt with about 14 cases of hypothermia in the wilderness, sometime me, sometime clients or assistant guides.

I keep posting that much of what is being broadcasted on forums is dangerous, sound good.

Then if you can’t rewarm and dry…They’re dead. You can’t keep a hypothermic hanging around. Seems like a PLANNING issue.
Generally, survival environments are not planned. I have crawled out of three plane crashes in the Alaska wilderness, and none were "planned". Yes, we are required to carry survival gear, but that is rarely a cure.

Please reread post #3 I added to it.

Are you asking for treatment guidelines or just talking about your experiences?
Yes. There are things we do in the field that are advanced practice, which I won’t post because unless you’re trained properly, not watching YouTube or listening to someone talk about it, you can kill someone.

PLAN for the event, then it won’t be such an issue. It sounds like you don’t have the correct survival pack and training.

You’re the professed expert. There are many guides and outfitters, not to mention the FARs that cover everything.
Iam "NOT" a professed expert. Just a guy who has extensive experience dealing with survival situations in the wilderness. That is cometly different then the canned answers offered on internet.

Can we take a vote on banning the ‘putz’? He brings nothing positive to any thread. He’s only here to troll.
This site is not a democracy.
The owners have create a set of rules. Until those rules are violated, all members are free to converse.
Some use this opportunity to help others and contribute to the community as a whole.
Some... don't. 😐

Please remind me of exactly what you have contributed to this thread, outside of your annoyance with yourself that such a serious subject as this, you have zero experience or knowledge to offer.

See, I find it interesting that in this thread zero members have expressed their personal experience with the subject. Hell, not even one has been slightly interested in advancing their probability of survival to inquire as to my experiences with the thread subject.

I suspect that few are passionate about enhancing their probability of survival in a SHTF environment, it seems many are interested in the entertainment of "prepping for survival".

Even the one member in this thread who has clinical knowledge of treatment, could not expand that outside of a sterile clinical environment.

From our perspective, here's what we saw with this thread...

You started a thread with a tantalizing title.
You teased others into providing their own information on the topic in a not-so-subtle attempt to draw out ideas you can attack and belittle.
And now you're baiting for others to try to ask for your information before you'll actually give it.

A few tips...
When starting a thread, pick a lane.
A) Ask for information from the community on a topic you don't know.
B) Begin a thread on information you are closely familiar with and provide your insights up front.

From here, the conversation can flow by bouncing between sources of knowledge.
But starting a thread in hopes that you'll be begged for your information, or only to challenge the knowledge of others, is petty.
Try to avoid that in the future, and we'll all benefit.

What trolling? I’m responding to the posts, most so far out there that NASA can’t even track them.
Just because YOU don’t like reading a post that comments on the constant desire for a SHTF moment so they can start shooting people, prepping for the nuclear war, or how to treat yourself based on the internet instead of qualified medical Doctors, doesnt mean I, nor any other, should be banned.

Dont like me? Big Deal. Put me on ignore.

Putz! I’ve been a member of this forum for over 8 years. I was even a moderator for a short period. But yes, I seldom post anymore. I do check in and read new posts every day. And so far I have NEVER seen you post anything positive or useful. Only negative and insulting comments. So yes, you are a troll. Only here to cause trouble. I pity you if your life’s mission is only to troll an Internet forum where folks are trying to help each other. You are one sad individual.

Oh! If most of the posts here are “so far out that NASA can’t even track them“, why are you here? Surely someone with your superior intellect can post some nuggets of useful knowledge for us ignorant rubes.
