I was watching the other day on one of the major news network and they had a guess who call himself a libertrian. He was in a group of others comment on our goverment and where we were heading in the next 4 years. His response was that by the end of the next 4 years our goverment will take us to a more of a police state. I now wonder with what our WH and congress is talking about if the AWB and high magazines and the restriction of private gun sale is heading us toward police state. Would like to know your comments on the subject.

If we feel strongly about an issue we should let it be known that we'll only vote for the politicians who share our views, then they'll get the message quick enough..;)

Towards a police state is all they've been directing our future to with the laws the government has passed. Further restrictions on our freedom of movement without ID checks and searches, more registration of your information, compiled on data bases with total access to all government agencies, more regulation on firearms, militarizing the police forces with surplus and old military equipment from tanks to machine guns. Laws to protect them and punish us for force against them with years trying to defend your reason going broke in the process, or going where they don't want you to go and doing what they don't want you to do. We have long been on the road to becoming more of a police state everyday and the only one's who can put a stop to it are the people. But it won't be peacefully I'm sorry to admit. We try time and again through voting and our further being restricted freedom of speech. People can't even freely speech their minds to their senators anymore without it being under scrutiny. The only way we'll ever be able to take it back at this point is by force of arms. They're leaving us no choice. Which is why there are so many politicians looking to disarm us at any opportunity.

A week ago I would have said that while the US will probably be in a terrible shape in four years, we wouldn't be completely a police state by then. Now? Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm in jail for refusing an order to confiscate guns within 6 months. My, how quickly things change.

The reality is we have been a police state ever since 1984; it is just operating undercover.

What is happening now is more people are willingly relinquishing their rights looking for safety for themselves and their offspring.

I would also recommend members of the Forum be careful what they are posting -- I have read comments (none of the above included) that come close to violating laws on this Forum, so people should keep that in mind. Just some words to the wise.

Here's a hint and link as to a reading suggestion -- educate yourself as part of your preparations. Translation: watch what you type, here or anywhere.

I happen to agree with most of what you said. Hell, I think we're already in a police state. However, I still believe we can turn this ship around without yet resorting to an armed rebellion. Obama is only in there for 4 more years and hopefully Rand Paul (or someone like him) will make a bid for the Presidency and help return America to the land of the free.

That's the optimistic side of me anyway. The negative side keeps telling me that the Founders would have reached for their muskets a long time ago.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." Thomas Jefferson

To the current occupants of the Executive Branch, Thomas Jefferson would be considered a terrorist.
This recent presidential election was described by many pundits as a choice between freedom and socialism.
And this country was sold down the river by the "gimmie people" who traded our liberty and freedom for trinkets and beads pedalled by a slick speaking huckster named Barack HUSSIEN Obama.
The liberal, self serving, media coupled with the government indoctrination centers (public schools) have done their work well.

And mark my words, there will be a move in the court system to make Obama eligible for a third term. You can count on it.

There invalidating the documents which this country was founded on. That was the line for me. Especially when they put the altering or dismantling of those documents to use on the populace.

We all fear the erosion of our rights and liberties. And yes, the government is part of the problem. But the other problem is the people. The government wants to control us from cradle to grave. They believe we're all too ignorant to take care of ourselves. Why does Obamacare have a provision in it for an RFID chip? Would anyone here allow them to put it in them? It's all about control and oppression. They wan't us all to be good little sheeple and not take responsibility for ourselves. The other half of the problem is the people. Too plugged in to their internet, video games, music and everything else. They turn a blinds eye to what's going on around them. Distract the people with a shiny object and they divert their attention from the reality of losing their freedoms. They want everyone on government aid so they can control your life. Look how many people are on government aid over the last few years. And look how much worse it's getting. The more people rely on the government, the more they can control you. Socialism does not work. Never has and never will. But armed conflict is not the answer either. I own a couple guns, but they are for self defense and defending my family and home. My only interest in turning the direction of this country is through diplomatic solutions and making my voice heard, while we still have that freedom. If some in the government get their way, the 1st amendment could be taken away very soon. So we must speak out against tyranny and oppression while we still can. There is a reason why many of us frequent a forum like this. It's not just the natural disasters that concern us. It's the power hungry people in office who wish to take away our rights and liberties. There very well could come a day where you see a state like Texas decide to remove itself from the Union because of the governments policies. And that will be when things start to get really ugly. But again, I don't advocate any violence. I think we can get this country back on course with our abilities to vote and make our voices heard.

In the mean time contact your state representatives and politely let them know how you feel...and what you'd like to see them do. Those that are distracted by internet television and video games don't do such things.

Yes it has and yes it works...I do it, explain your concerns, cite instances...couch your points in fact...provide a reasonable and obtainable solution. Be polite and be respectful...they actually are there to represent you. Bitching and whining is okay for an internet rant...clean it up support it with fact and send it off.

I've been successful with it...My local representatives have gone to the point of Emailing me and soliciting my input. If done correctly it becomes a two way street...Besides if you don't talk to them they are left to their own devices...and lord only know what they''ll do if left without direction...
