The roof of your house can be pretty dirty and possibly (probably) has bird droppings, etc. (mine had raccoon poop). While It will supply a lot of water, I'd still disinfect it.

That's a good point. Between the bucket filters, and if you boiled the water you were going to consume... SHOULD be ok?

I hear ya, we use rain collection and know exactly what you mean...those dirty animals of the forest! But, after some treatment and filtration we're good to go.
