Hey all,

Been lurking a bit and decided to hop in. I'm a mom of 3 smalls in WA state. The hubs works out of state and is never home, so it's a little daunting to think of protecting my family and prepping for them all alone.

I'm currently on information overload and not making ANY progress toward getting prepared. We have a little food, a little ammo and two big hairy German Shepherds who are very protective of their kids. :)

Looking forward to getting to know you all and learning lots!

Welcome Indie. It's a process, so set small goals and keep going. It's very easy to be overwhelmed with information overload in the beginning but remember, shelter, water, food, security are the main things at first.

Welcome from Southern Minnesota, Indie. It does seem overwhelming, but like others said: baby steps. I have been storing water in my empty milk jugs. That was an easy step, insted of taking them to recycling. Then buying $20.00 more each grocerie shopping trip. Then adding matches, extra rice, etc. I like the list idea. It helped me think of things that I don't have. I keep one by my bed and one in my purse (when I carry one) and add to it often. As I find deals, I cross of the "wanted" and "needed" items.

I garages sale, thrift store shop and watch craigslist. I love me a bargain!

Yeah, I need to change that on my profile - I am in the SE corner of the state not the SW........ cut me a little slack, I lived in Seattle too long. I like the Walla Walla Valley.
