welcome from los angeles. heh. my group is thinking to relocate to payson az? I'm getting job offers in chandler and Scottsdale as a vp of a property management company. We have a large group of friends in fountain hills. but man, I need mountains like Tahoe mountains. I go out several times a yr to fountain hills and Sedona. I may relocate there, begrudgingly.

Payson is good territory. So is Prescott. Matter of fact - my pic/avatar was taken up near Happy Jack and Cinch Hook Pass north of Payson. It's cropped pretty tight so you can't see all of the snow, but it was about 2' deep in most places - 3' in others.

New River has a fairly independent population of preppers. I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't the birth place of society after the next big fall.
Might be worth looking into.

As far as places to live, Scottsdale and Fountain Hills are super nice! Not a real good place to bug to - Too many golf courses, casinos, bars, and Bentleys. When the archaeologists blow the dust off of the ancient civilization of Scottsdale in a few millennia, they will think these people used breast implants for currency.

haha that's right up my alley. Bentley people- they fill my buildings nicely :) I swear im the only person with a Honda in my garage. thank you for the information on the area! I would live on the out skirts of a city and drive into work so I can go bananas setting up a nice spot for myself. im fairly sensitive to landscape. I have to go where I love the landscape and I need mountains or access to mountains. my eyes and soul are not at ease with the los angeles incident :)
