Hello,
By way of introduction, my name is Karl, but my friends and family call me KarlOS. I have no idea why, I'm not Spanish...
I am a 16 year veteran, combat experienced, and have been around the world (twice). I am a former door gunner, SAR member and SERE trained. But, don't thank me for my service, I'm not dead... yet.
I am a student of history and law, and have been for a very long time. I won't talk politics, but civics and the Constitution are fair game.
I'm a BIG fan of DIY emergency preps. I built my own backpack (modified Hellcat); created my own lightweight, compact 30+ day food supply; made my own maps and invented the stove(s) I carry in my B.O.B., among many other things. Make what you need so you can buy better gear, I always say. I built my B.O.B. for the long-term. Everything in it was chosen based upon my own specific criteria, multi-function being only one of them.
I like to spend as much time as I can in the great outdoors, high up in the mountains-far above the clouds (to steal a really cool phrase). I test everything before I "bug-out" and then use my gear as intended (o.k., abuse may be a better term).
My priorities are: fire, water, shelter, food, first aid. Of course, your priorities may differ. If I see a better idea, I'll try it. If I think I have a better idea, I'll tell you about it.
That's it for now. C'ya in the forums.
