I dictate to the best I can afford approach myself. Cutting corners always has a price even if you don't see it till later when something doesn't do all of what you need it to and you wish you bought what your conscience told you to wait for instead of going the cheaper/easier route. There are some things out there you can save money on, but others of specific importance you should not. Like your bugout bag, main knife, compass, water filter, boots, firearms, and lots of other things.
