I bought a goal Zero Nomad 7, if you do not know what this is, it is a small solar panel charger system meant to charge/power small electronics, Ipod, cell phone, rechargable batteries.

I got this and had to wait 3 days for the sun to come out so i was VERY antsy to get it into use. I hooked it up to an old phone that I had and placed it on top of my car angled at the sun, the phone would turn on but would quickly turn off before I hooked it up to the charger. I left it on my car for 6 hours, came back out to check it and it would not even turn on. The status light on it showed that it was charging but apparently it wasn't charging enough.

So I tried it with an ipod too, and the same results, the gadget was more drained of battery after i had left it on there for hours upon hours. I reluctantly decided to return it to best buy, where they did refund me my cash.

I have been thinking about buying the step up which is 15 watts but 160 bucks that i do not currently want to dish out. So to all of you contemplating this "toy" beware, it didn't work for me, it might work for you though, who knows. It's a GREAT idea and I wanted it to work so damn badly!!!!!

I understand where you are coming from. I keep looking at solar powered systems and want one that will at least charge a decent rechargeable flashlight. I am open to suggestions and recommendations.
