Thank you so much! Thats a great list. My dog is still a pup so I can probably get him to learn a few unusual commands that other people will not know to use. My biggest worry is the barking. I dont like to "hush" my dog to much at home bc he is just doing his job by protecting our home and the people in it when people are walking by. Although he doesnt bark unless someone/something get to close to the house. I would rather have a few bark here and there then a lazy couch potato who doesnt give it a 2nd thought. Also i dont want him to think its wrong to protect us if someone or something did happened. I cant believe i didnt think of the silent whistle thats a great idea! Cant wait to get to walmart and petco to get some of these things. But one thing is forsure I could never leave my dog behind no matter what. My husband and I dont have kids yet and my pup is basically my child and I love him like one <3 No one could ever love me as much as my dog lol My husband is the runner up tho ahhaahaha lol jk
Go Bag/ Bug out bag for dogs?
Well hello everyone! Im new to the forum and still learning my way around it. I was wondering if anyone has made a list or has posted what they have in thier doggy go/bug out bag? I typed it in the search but nothing came up. I thought for sure that there would be a list for the dogs under the "Strictly Bug Out Bags" but I guess not. Im a huge animal lover and I just couldnt image bugging out without my dog. I started making my own Go Bag for him but Im getting kind of lost on what else he will need beside food,water,toys,treats and a blanket. I realize that he will need a first aid kit but I think im just goin to buy one for the pet store so I know everything is safe to use on him. I could really use some help!! : )

We need a darn LIKE button up in here lolI completely agree haha I would never bug out without my dog, and yes, I would do anything to keep her safe because even though she's a dog, she's still a part of the family.
^ I know I need to get one, and know he will hate it but It could be something that saves our lives : )Booties or leather wraps are also great for ice-crusted snow. Doggy pads are tough but can still get cut.
DSMgirl... The muzzle is for those occasions when you have to control barking.
I know for sure i have to get some of the stuff to clean his ears out with bc when he get wet or its humid he starts itching his ear and crying. And when ur trying to hid or keep quite cryaing dog is not something you want.
Im not totally sure what I'm preparing for; weather, nukes, economy crash. I dont know I just trying to be as ready as possible lol. But that you for your list! And I hope you, your family and house it ok.We have BOB's for both animals (cat and dog) consisting of first aid, food and water for at least three days, and collapsible bowls for both animals. Also included are tweezers, a flea comb, a copy of records from the vet, a couple duplicates of their favorite toys, extra collars and leashes (with names of pet and contact info.) and a couple of treats for each. The food and water gets rotated out just like I would for myself and my wife, and I have also taken the initiative to make sure to have both animals micro chipped in case we are separated as well as current pictures of each. There's also a small cat litter pan and cat litter for obvious sanitary reasons, especially if we have to grab a room some where.
The dog has his own backpack that he's comfortable wearing it, and the cat has his own bag
Animals are just as sensitive to change and stress as humans are and probably more so, and being that I'm an animal person I want to make sure that I do everything I can to make them as happy and comfortable as I possible.
I try to keep in mind that I'm more likely to have to leave my house (right now anyway) because of storms or floods than because of a world WROL, and when my wife and I leave we are leaving by car, not by foot.
