Fortunately, I'm well stocked in the gun/mag department, at least for rifles. Still need a few more 1911 and Jericho 941 mags. Ammo could be better, but it's the prep I've put the most money into, and my furthest along.

Yep it is going to get stupid here before long.

Cheaperthandirt has suspended selling guns online and has started price gouging. A Magpul P Mag that was $13.00 is now bumping between $30 and $60 and their 5.56 ammo that was $425 per thousand round case is now $899. Dick's Sporting Goods has pulled black rifles and tactical .22's from the shelves.

It is gonna get nasty boys and girls.

I believe many of us knew this day was coming and that they were waiting for the right crises to exploit. But the sad truth is that probably most of the people on this site could have stopped the shooter if they were allowed to be in that school armed, and I bet there were several at the school that could have done the same thing if a firearm was available. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the teachers that lunged at him had bear spray even it may have stopped the carnage.

Glad I got stocked up, but it never seems enough. You go out for one funfilled afternoon at the range and you shoot hundreds of rounds. Now, every rounds will be worth its weight in gold, cant just go out and shoot em off. I was trying to break in my new .45, wanted to get 500 downrange, think i will hurry to the store before the prices get crazy. But, we are all smart enough to understand that , after time, this too shall pass. Cooler head will prevail? right? (God I hope) ;-)

Definitely a shameless plug, and for Tapco mags. Shame on you. :)

Sadly, your right. All high capacity mags may be hot ticket items soon enough.
Where do you get your M-14 magazines? I've only got 4, USGI surplus. All I have seen locally just have a stamped pimple for the locking lug rather than the piece of steel. Junk.
I'm in much better shape with AK magazines, all mine are Eastern European.

You've got older usgi surplus? You might want to pick up some replacement springs for them while you're at it just in case. I've got a few myself, but I only buy new CMI's these days which are the current usgi contract magazines for the M14. As good and better than any older usgi. Mainly I buy from 44Mag.com and will probably look to get another dozen when I've got the funds to put towards it. I mostly have standard steel CMI 20 rounders. About 2 dozen, but I think I'm going to get some of the newer stainless steel versions this time. He's a great dealer and industry supporter of the Firing Line. He's also out of stock on both version 20 round mags which is not a good thing and normal. Sign of the times I'd say though. He's got the 25's, but there too long for my taste.

44MAG.com - M1A & M14

So is Midway who I also deal with a lot. Not good. You might want to buy some 10's atleast and watch for the 20's to come back in stock.

I suggest you don't bother with Promags or Thermolds. Both are less than stellar in my experience, but who knows what will be available these days. Sad, but I knew it was coming.

I don't know if you know, but Springfield factory 20 round mags are CMI's. They just cost more, but I won't be surprised to see them out of stock at Springfield themselves soon enough.

Oh me neither. Depending on how things go, I am still contemplating going back to just M14/M1A's as my mainline rifles and getting rid of my last AR. I've done it before and sold off many AR's over the years now being able to condense down to very particular rounds on hand. If I do, I'm wondering just how much to sell off my AR and the gear for. A buddy's interested and I would still give him a good price, but the cost of everything (and the rounds I've got on hand) weren't cheap then. And I'm not about to take a $1000 or more loss when I told him a hundred times to move his ass, that things were going to get expensive and hard to find.

SCAR H mags were pricey before this all got started. Right now? They're definitely worth their weight in silver (but not quite gold, jeez, you see those prices?)

Availibility and "large" increases in prices. My primary SD rifle is a WWII M1 Inland Carbine. Early in November I bought four 15 rd mags and paid $9.97 each from my usual source who is normally known for good prices. Looked on line the middle of last week as I wanted to add four more and they had gone up to $21.97 for the same mags and to make it worse, by the end of the week they had gone up to 29.97. Found the same mage at another site for $11.97. and bought four while I can still afford them. Better rework your budget and buy what you think you need. I also noticed just about a 25% increase on most of what they carry.
