I had to read this twice, but now I understand. So what your saying is the cold water from the city is coming in, your home heats it up from 50 to 70 degrees and leaves it in the non working one sorta like a holding tank. From there when you need it, it goes to your second working heater and goes to the shower. Did I get it right? That is a good idea if it can pump correctly I would assume, but I don't know the mechanics behind that part.

I would like to see the cost savings if you wrap your water heater with a solar blanket also, or have one of those solar water heater pumps. I looked them up about 4 months ago and they were about 4 grand to get. I'm all about saving money and this has got me thinking.
