The number of hospitalized patients has grown to 10. They have some type of influenza or respiratory infection.

Two have died. One of the dead had H1N1, the other unknown.

One of the living has an A/H3 influenza which is a seasonal influenza.

We do not know what the other victims are infected with at this point. It could be multiple causes. I know nothing of their pre-existing diseases.

It could be a Temporal Cluster, meaning it just happened that a bunch of unrelated cases of disease show up at once. Information is still be gathered on this small cluster of disease.

Oh joy. Pandemic is my pretty much my weakest area of preps except for Nukes. I figure if Nukes enter the picture might as well catch a micro fraction of a second of the fireworks...

Oh, we are not close to a pandemic, yet. These hot spots pop up here and there all over the world every day. nCoV, H7N9 and H5N1 look to be the leaders in pandemic potential. Potential is the word. But I watch these reports because you never know.

I have a rainbow pony too and believe that a pandemic will conveniently announce itself so we can all put on masks and stay home.

As I ride my rainbow pony across lush meadows I comfort myself with happy thoughts instead of considering that the many viruses with no effective antibiotics will never go viral.

I love my pony, I will name him Shadow Fax

One person who died had H1N1. They may have had other health conditions.

One person who died, the cause is not known. I don't know why the cause is unknown. Failure to sample?

One person who is sick has a seasonal influenza A/H3.

The other 7 remain undiagnosed.

This is what is likely a Temporal Cluster.......a bunch of unrelated illness and death that have similar symptoms, but occur close in place and time.

It will likely be nothing, but this kind of cluster needs surveillance. If 5 more people get sick this week. They need to look for answers.

I don't believe this is related to any of the current smoldering situations in China or Saudi.

This is like watching the USGS earthquake map. It's happening all over the world, all the time.
