Actually, you could do better with a 40' shipping container. Simply have concrete company reinforce the top and be sure to build your tube entrance down to it. That pic looks like a little small for me. Where would you put even a simple bathroom ? No cooking facilities or storage area. The 40' container, would also give you a lot more room for the little things like food, water and sanitation.

Incidentally which bunk bed in the top pic would members choose, top or bottom?
Same with other places with bunks such as POW camps, barracks, prisons etc.
As i see it the advantages are these-

TOP BUNK
1- Warm air rises so you'd be a few degrees warmer up there, and would also avoid draughts coming under the door.

BOTTOM BUNK
1- you won't get the tobacco smoke or farts of a guy below you drifting up.
2- If you fall out of the lower bunk its less far to fall.

Personally I think I'd choose the bottom bunk

In WW2 many Brit homes had small corrugated-steel 'Anderson shelters' like this in their back gardens to get in during air raids.

MUM- "Come on everybody, into the Anderson quick!"
DAD- "Yes come on, the bombs are going off all around!"
MUM- "My mother's getting in with us too, you don't mind do you dear?"
DAD- "Of course not.... Er....It's going to be a bit cramped in there though, i'll go down the communal shelter instead, see you later"
