What does one say about the historical significance of today? A dark day that ultimately unleashed the awesome capability of the American people when unified. It's a solemn reality our elders who went through the times are losing the battle against time, along with their spirit.

I want to believe that should such an event happen today we would be able to come together and rise to the occaision, but I have my doubts.

Food for thought.

Japan bombed up 72 years ago? We are allied with them now and help protect them from Chinese aggression

Germany fought against us in WWI & II, now they have fighters stationed on US Soil and have quite a few of our thermo-nuclear devices fitted to their planes in the Fatherland.

The goverment's response is not what won the war. It was the American people's response. The coming together for a common cause. THAT is what I worry about our inability to do.
Roosevelt had advance knowledge of the attack and could have stopped it. Isolationists wanted no part of that war. FDR knew if he allowed the attack that the people would be pissed off enough to allow the US to enter the war.
