4 watts... hmmm... might not be worth the price.... which you didn't list... so I can't rightly say. Keep in mind that you can build a portable panel with higher output pretty cheap... and just strap it on a pack when needed, and keep it safely stored when not needed. The constantly exposed panel seems high risk and seems like it would be more difficult to repair in the field.

Another thought.... is the the angle of the panel. Adding your own has the advantage that you can angle it at different directions at need. This one is fixed.

You can buy a small pv panel from harbor freight or northern tools that is called the maintainer for about 45.00. It will keep a car battery charged and is very light in weight and so far after 5 years or so, mine seems to hold up pretty well. 12volt

Thanks Nadja... I hadn't considered those two as sources... I just checked them out. Drat... another website I have to go do research on and figure out if the cost of pre-made is better than the cost of my time and labor. :)

Sweet, darn it... I just subscribed to another youtube site... 284 more videos to scan. Are you a part of Stormfront or did you just build one like you saw on the video?

Yeah I'm the owner/head writer at Stormfront. It's me a few artists Hank and some other folks. I mainly do youtube now. Hank built that from a battery some wiring and an inverter. Solar panel was bought at Norther supply co. The pack is waterproof and can float. There is a blooper video that goes with it, on another video I am doing the video commentary and all of a sudden there's all these sparks and smoke start billowing from inside the pack and me and Hank are like OH SHIT and you hear me at the end "poh no I'm putting that on youtube that shit was just too good"

I'll have to check out that blooper video. Ever thought about diagramming out your pack and DeWalt battery kit for other folks to try building? I've got the basics... but detailed diagrams would be extremely useful.
