Trying to determine the differences between these two ham antennas. Going to use it on my car. I have a HT FT-60r and I'm going to put a window/trunk mount with this attached to it. From what I can see, the comet SS-1 is shorter 16" and the SS-2 is 18" in length. The gain is also different at 1.5/2.15dBi for the SS-1 and 2.15/3.8dBi for the SS-2. The SS-2 is in question where it says Frequency Coverage : 144/430MHz(100-170MHz,350-470MHZ reception only). What does it say reception only? Can't transmit? Weird!?

Which is the better mobile antenna for my Yaesu FT-60r HT for a trunk/window mount?
