AR Mags

After reading Montana's post a while back about stocking in bulk some prepper items then selling them in small quantities I was thinking of ordering 50-30 round AR aluminum C-Product new AR magazines. Chances are very good CA politicos will ban new ones starting Jan.1 and if I never sold one I'd be glad to have them. After Newtown these were hyped to $25/$30 for a short time. If I buy 50 I get free shipping and it's $500 even. Good deal or?

Forgive my ignorance, but I thought these were already illegal in California.

So did I.
I do not care what capacity your mags are. Just remember every weapon has a sustained rate of fire limit. Which means your weapon will malfunction if you exceed that rate. Sometimes the damage is permanent. If you are using a slide fire stock you can get there rather quickly.
At 10 dollars each that is a little high in my book. Before the big gouge they "cost" 5 bucks or less for surplus mags, as low as 2.
I have one or two C products; not a big fan but I wouldn't trash them either. At $10 each that is more than I'd pay to be stocking up for barter. If you needed them for personal use and its all you could find it would be a different story.

Last year I was getting these: https://www.primaryarms.com/Black_Teflon_30rd_AR15_M16_w_MAGPUL_Follow_p/ma-02dsgb.htm in groups of 10 for like $80. Wait a little while and wait for more/better deals, if you have the patience.
There are just to many mag's available for it to be a money maker. Sure for a short time anyone that had some could flip them for a profit. But now I can buy all the AR ,AK mags I want at close to normal prices. They are just to easy for a manufacture to crank out.

That too - there is a large abundance out there. I try to stay away from guns/ammo to stock as wampum. I don't want someone to try and 'return' it.

I'm stocking jars and new lids DEEP, got a case or two of booze (that is properly rotated!) and have been buying cheap but 'good' multi-tools and knives. Need a few more items to add to that.

But yeah, I def try to steer clear of guns/ammo. For trade that is. Anyone who I would feel comfortable enough trading it to will end up getting what they need/I can spare for free.
A). The magazines are illegal to buy / sell in CA. The parts, all the parts even, in a kit are not. So we sell them in unassembled kit form.

B). The factory new metal c product I already have about ten of, and have used them. My Stag and Colt both like them fine.

While we can presently deal in parts / kits in CA this is likely to change. I kind of expect another panic in Nov/Dec.

I've not had issues with mine either, but I don't use them too much either... I think I got them a while back from CDNN as an 'an also' special for a couple of bucks. The biggest issue with them is the actual name, or more 'name recognition'. If you look back at the prices around christmas everyone and their mamma wanted PMAGS!!!! and yes the others went up 2-3x or even 4x and would often sit for sale on boards around me for days, but Pmags were 6X+ and moved like hotcakes.

I did use this as an opportunity to trade used PMAGS for NIB Troy battlemags, which normally cost about 30% more than pmags. But they didn't have the name recognition.

DUnno, just my .02 and these days .02 don't buy you anything...
I just bought a few for $10 each, but I'm way late to the party. I got 1000 Small Rifle Primers,200 mixed brass and a primer swager also today at the LGS which doubles as a oil change shop.
I own an AR 15 and wanted a lifetime supply of magazines for it in case the Liberals get their wish. Problem is, AR 15 magazines are disposable. The feed lips are so thin that they just don't hold up. For one rifle I bought 35 magazines. About half steel/Aluminum the other half window P mags. P mags are starting to show up again for $13.00. There are $8.00 metal magazines out there you just have to catch them in stock.
