Check out the Smith & Wesson M&P10. Saw one in my LGS the other day for right around $1,600. The drooliest I've seen was the SCAR 17s, but with my budget I'll never own one. DSA FAL's are also common and affordable. Personally, I'm sticking with my Mini-G.
