Queen is desert like, sand and pinons. Head south from Queen and you go up about 1000 feet in elevation and the trees turn to pines and oaks, VERY PRETTY! Hard for people to understand New Mexico just looking at a flat map, major changes in forest and weather based on elevation.

I don't have much time or money, so I don't know about the leadership aspect, but I can contribute something. It would be nice to know the like minded people in the community so we can collectively purchase bulk items, buy/sell/trade stuff. I know there are over 100 HAM radio operators in the area, but I don't know any of them or if they are preppers. They would be nice to know when the SHTF. I am a nurse, so I could offer limited medical services. I have some knowledge of herbs and alternative medicine. No scholar by any means, but enough to help someone through something.
I think I will work on that flyer this weekend. I can put it up at Smith's and maybe some feed stores. any idea where else one could go?
I am an armorer and pretty diverse in a multitude if weapon systems I am also an avid gardener and fish haven’t hunted in a while but I have trapped and hunted before and am pretty good at butchering game. I’ve got vast canning experience and am looking for a group to join. I served 8 years in the marine corps as an armorer and am currently an armorer for a private contract

We have a small but fairly well established communications net in New Mexico. The nets are informal and everyone is welcome to check-in including non-hams using FRS/GMRS or CB.

We are a Christian, conservative, liberty minded group and we try very hard to avoid the "tinfoil hat" and "airsoft armageddon" crowds. Our goal is just to help keep like-minded people in touch with each other during a crises.

We currently have local nets in central and south central New Mexico that reach into far west Texas and eastern Arizona. Each of the local non-ham nets have ham radio operators that can pass traffic to and from regional and national NTS nets.

Local FRS/GMRS nets start at 6:00PM Wednesdays on FRS/GMRS channel 3

Local CB nets start at about 6:15PM Wednesdays on CB channel 3

Local 2 meter simplex nets start at about 6:45 on 146.420 (ham)

Most of the NMPRN members who are hams try to monitor 7.242 and 14.242 when they're near a radio. We'd like to start a regional net on HF if there's any interest.
I am getting into ham radio but do not know where to start I am looking for someone to show me the ropes

Hello Kaleb p,
Welcome to the forum.

What part of the state do you live in? Las Cruces and Albuquerque both have nets for non-hams tonight. I don't know the schedule for Albuquerque, but Las Cruces has a net for non-hams on FRS3 at 6pm. Do you have any sort of radio yet? If your near Las Cruces we can get you a loaner radio until you get your own)

If your in south central NM I can get you started with getting your license. If your somewhere else I can probably get you in touch with the right people.

A good place to start is to download the question pools for Technician and General. There are a few hundred questions in the pool you need to read but you'll only see 30 of them on your test. The internet is full of training resourses and websites where you can take practice tests until you feel comfortable taking the real one.

We must have more people here in NM...random thoughts....would love to be involved with some people so that we could buy large quantity and divide it..Anyone here going to KID ROCK?? at the ampitheater? Wanna have a beer?
Tularosa - that's what we do. Bulk and process it ourselves, split it up or sell some. Kinda used to monk activities for awhile now.

I won't make it to kid rock and I'm not around here too often, but contact me at www.newmexicokungfu.com if email doesn't show here.
I've only been out here 10 years and have not lived in the forest (because there isn't any) so wild living is new for me in this environment.
But I fully intend to live in maximum comfort and serenity despite the external. 4 under 10 to think about.

Wow small world. Tularosa ground chiles are real popular with the comp chili cooks in this area. Pendery's is usually the only place to get it

Haven't met them but if we get a deal here, we will send all you can stand. Or send a truck. That's always best when possible.

"Why would you go through the agony of choking down Tularosa chili when you can just drive over to my side of the San Augustín pass and get proper God given Hatch chili grown in pristine fields by third generation virgins?"
Heh heh heh why not?

Sounds yummy to me. I learned the Lord gave us Hatch Chiles to be used as part of fully loaded baked tate a long time ago.

On the 8th day God gave us chili so there would be peace on earth. Nobody can fight when their belly is full. The BEST chili is on a Buckhorn burger in San Antonio NM. I make a great chili cornbread! What about a late spring campout at Red Cloud campground? Everyone can bring their best chili dishes and we will see who is best!
