Yes I did read it and its very helpful. I have a buddy who has a couple of the real early army colts and I have reached out to him, maybe he will have a front sight. I may just machine the hole square and find a wide tenon a1 sight and go with that.

Like I said I'm not trying to get into a pissing match and if you read the article I posted, The guy had a similar problem with an older colt that had a round hole. He had his 1911 sent to a gunsmith on the forum and he posted how he was able to fix it.
It really sucks because it is a Randall and I have no experience with them other than I know they are an expensive collectors piece and original parts are really rare. Just my opinion but wouldn't it be better to machine the site to fit instead of the slide?Yes I did read it and its very helpful. If it does not match the S&W sight you might be able to cast the hole and file another sight to fit it.It really sucks because it is a Randall and I have no experience with them other than I know they are an expensive collectors piece and original parts are really rare. Well I am looking at that possibility as we speak. I am also wondering if I can take the sight I have, round the corners and stake it. May work and wont hurt to try. I do want to keep this gun free of changes. I may sell it anyway but do want to fire it for a bit first. I got it at a real good deal and who knows. I may like it to much to get rid of it....It really sucks because it is a Randall and I have no experience with them other than I know they are an expensive collectors piece and original parts are really rare.
