I think thats an excellent Idea!! My BOB is with me most times anyways but I have a couple times (Not near as much as I want) strapped it on and started hiking in the mtns. Its a LOT different than a bottle of water or 2 lol my bag actually weighs 58 pounds though :(

oh! i get on the treadmill with a back pack with 2 eight pound weights and go for 20 minutes. its better than nothing. sounds like your bob is quite the deal, blaze!
do you have one of the taller hiking bags that are balanced? I have been looking at those that have balancing for an easier carry. what are you carrying? I went to the surplus store and got swiss back pack? doesnt balance well. so im looking into the specialized.

what are ya'll carrying?

I'll be doing a 5 mile round trip hike very soon, with about 40 # of gear.I'll bring some food snacks, 2 bottled water,X-Bow,6 bolts, laser rangefinder, David Bowie knife,Gerber folder, cell phone, latex gloves and spare wool gloves and socks. 3 compasses, signal mirror, matches, lighter, meds.An Austrian Polymer frame pistol with spare mags.

Once it starts, the hike will be repeated twice daily, I'll be getting in a rut so to speak.

In 5 weeks the X-Bow will be replaced with a 30 cal with optics

Well Currently without the camelbak filled its 58lbs but I have a lot of more room inside and think Im going to revise the bag (mainly 2 more Pistols/water/MREs) But I really dont want to go over 80lbs.

Im a decent sized guy (6'3"-205lbs) but I would love to not Kill all stamina in case I have to go from Chevrolet to ChevroLEGS.
