A Prepper From North Florida

Hi my name is Tim, I live in North Florida via Denver Colorado. I've spent most of my 20s and 30s living in the outdoors as an adrenaline junkie. Scuba diving, rock climbing, snow boarding and hang gliding to name a few. Now in my 40s my body has slowed down but I still enjoy getting out there. I have spent the last 10 years studying and practicing the skills of survival and prepping and have even talked my wife into joining me, mostly out of pure frustration I’m sure. I have added this knowledge into a novel that I have recently published called “Southbound” It’s about a truck driver who makes his way from New York State back to Florida after an EMP strikes the USA.
You will follow his adventures as he walks, rides bikes and sales a boat over a two-month period back to Florida. I have added many survival skills along with my own true life stories into the book. I'm sure you will enjoy it.
I’m looking forward to talking with you all.

You can listen to a podcast about the book at

“In The Rabbit Hole” E195: How To Survive After an EMP Collapse Has Happened — A Truck Driver’s Story

Truck drivers usually have the lowdown on hookers and blow .... what about yours?
As a hooker with blow, welcome big boy, from little new england(south Florida).
Welcome.
Welcome. I hope you're not here just to advertise.
We are watching.
Welcome to the group from Southern Arizona.
Land of Sun, Surf, Sand and Snow on the mountains.
Ok, I lied, no surf, unless you count the flash floods
in the washes, but there’s enough sand to fill
all the dang sand bags I’ll ever need!
Grab a stump and sit a spell.
I’ll get you a virtual a beer.
One of the first things I learned here,
there are people a whole lot smarter than me,
and those who think they are a whole lot smarter than me.
Welcome?
Here we go again . lmao
Welcome, I was Airborne with 25 jumps, and one broken ankle; that took care of a lot of thrill seeking. It swelled up like a balloon, so that took a lot of starch out of me.:vs_wave:

Yes, I am here to advertise, It's hard to get the word out, I don't try hard enough to get the word out. It's difficult to find like minded folks to buy my book. But I am also here to join in an learn some thing new and maybe even teach some one something that just might save there live some day.
And to the Watchman, Sorry I never hung with that crowd (Truck drivers usually have the lowdown on hookers and blow .... what about yours?) I've always been my own man, never stooping down to the weak minded.
To ND (is there a braille version?) Sorry buddy no braille of my book but there MAY very well be a audiobook some day, I would love that.
Mister Mills (That took a lot of starch out of me) I know what your talking about. My rig slid off a mountain in UT in a snow storm back in '93 and that took at lest 10 years off my life.
It took me a year to start walking normal again.

What folks are trying to get across is we don't take kindly to people who come here to advertise. Know what I mean?
I get that, but who else can I turn to in order to get the word out. I've done nothing for six months now, do you want to know how many books I've sold in that time?
I'm a preppier and a survivalist and have been for years, who else am I to turn to but you guys, my like minded brothers and sisters.
How many survivalist take three years to publish a book only to get thrashed by the very people you thought may understand. chill out, I'm not selling cookies or calendars.
And If I get one more person telling me I'm not welcome I will gladly leave.
Seems like they like paid advertisers on here.

Southbound,
I will give ya credit, you are honest and straight up with no back door approach. We have many avid readers here, so I will give you a tip that others have used here in the past. In a new thread, post several small bites of your book beginning at the start and continue a new post every couple days and see if you can get us interested. Interest equates to buyers.
Cool, I can do that, thanks for the tip. To be honest, I did not write this book for the sole purpose of selling it, I wrote it for my self and future generations of my family to read and have an idea what I was like with a cool story to keep them interested. But it sure would be nice to break even on what it cost to publish it.
Thanks
