DIY In Line Charcoal Water Filter (ver. 1)

This is a discussion on DIY In Line Charcoal Water Filter (ver. 1) within the Urban and Rural Survival forums, part of the Survivalist, Prepper, Bushcrafter, Forest Rangers category; Wow. Great info. I've seen this done with a 5 gallon sparklers bottle, but love this more portable idea. I'm learning more every day, thx....

Sorry to be a total noob but I like the design very much but when it comes to filtering water from a rain butt or other stagnant source would boiling, puri-tabs and this filter suffice?! (I'm in the UK so can pretty much rely on rain any time lol) PS apologies of this is a thread hijack.

The filtering system is strictly to clean the water. Purification method must still be used, boiling, bleach, or the like.
