I really went out on a limb today.

Was trying to motivate myself to turn up a special wrench in the lathe today.

While listening to Rush Limburger, I actually put an extended mag catch in one 10-22.

Catch has been in the tray for about three months., now I am all set for SHTF with three 25 round Ruger factory mags.

As I read through the responses I realize it all depends on the circumstances. In my case, I am a "Bug In" type as I live in a wooded rural area with neighbors at least 1/4 mile from me in all directions. We have the typical mix, ARs, AK, Shotguns, .22s, and hunting rifles with an assortment of .22, .38, 9MM and .45 pistols. I carry a .45 and my wife carries a .38.

In most cases for me, in a SHTF scenario, I will stick to my Browning BAR in .308 and her to a 10/22. Most of our use will be hunting. I would have no issues grabbing the AR or AK for anything like repelling boarders though I would lean to the AR first as I am most used to it and I trust it more. I need to get me a M1A as it was the rifle I used the most in the military and is still my favorite shooter.

What ever is handy, but I like my AR and 10-22.

I believe in quietly and kindly. For example, I'm not a big fan of slob hunters who gut-shoot deer.

In a very world or trying to stay alive, I'd rely on my 10/22 and some very sharp knives.

I intend to defend myself, but not take scalps or behead enemies.

Colombian Neck-Ties can be quiet, I don't know if they fit in the 'kind' classification, but they are effective warnings I hear. Just saying...

My firearms collection is far less impressive than many here. But if something happens, I'm covered pretty much wherever I'm at in terms of having a firearm.

I have my CCW permit so I always have one or two handguns on me. Usually a CZ P07 9mm or a Ruger SR40C.

I always have my Norinco SKS and about 100 rounds of 7.62x39 in my trunk. Been looking to get some more stripper clips as I left the stock magazine alone.

If I'm at home, I have my 7.62x39 Yugo N-PAP AK and about 6 magazines.

Nothing super impressive, but it's what I have. I'm comfortable with it.

@Historyjunkie , You are better off than many.

You have rifles that will get you through, good to go..

You could use a few more mags for the AK and obviously more strippers.

I am a mag whore, so pay no attention to my ravings on them.

My most stocked weapons are my
AK 13 mags and a few thousand round
308 All American few hundred rounds
    10/22 few thousand rounds
then all the basic hand guns and sufficient rounds.
I do not stock much shotgun ammunition I probably should have more but I feel that will a easy scavenge round if need be

Yeah I always pick up more mags for my AK whenever I see them for cheap at the local fun shop. 10 dollars give or take and I'll buy one every time.

Haven't been able to find a good source for stripper clips. All I can find are the NCStars. I've only had my SKS for about 3 months.
