For your good as well as the the good of your cookware always cook the following foods on Cast Iron;
Bacon! Bacon tastes better when cooked on cast iron and the bacon fats will help keep the cast iron seasoned and conditioned.
Steaks! Nothing sears a steak like a cast iron skillet and the seasonings as well as the fats help to keep the cookware in top notch condition.
Pancakes! For me, pancakes cooked on low heat on a well seasoned skillet are simply the best! The first batch always goes to the dogs, but every batch after gets better and better! Lightly crunchy/carmelized on the edges and golden brown and delicious!
What are your best/favorite foods to cook on cast iron?
Well the cornbread is cast iron cooked.The Stew is a rough half batch clone of Pastor Dwight's recipe from a day or so ago. Whupped up in SS waffle bottom pot. Was out of Guniniess Stout and being a Protestant I used some strong black coffee and was fresh out of tomater paste so a can of Rotels was added instead. I aint much on getting overwhelmed with aromatic spices such as bay leaves etc..so I just have a whisper of that stuff. Floured and browned off the stew meat in saved up Bacon Grease..butter and Avocado oil..with the heat and salt level regulated with dusting of Tonys Cajun seasoning. Which is red pepper and salt and good as can be determined. Also skipped the wooster sauce since my wife thinks she dont like the flavor of it. Thanks Dwight.

I figured you must've been a bit "sideways" when you posted the stew pic so I fixed it for you! Noticed that might have been a Shiner Bock in the picture, fabulous little beer and when I'm feeling particularly immune to excess gluten, I don't mind drinking a 6 or so of Shiner!
Stew looks good to, thanks again to Pastor Dwight!
Hey thanks I been wondering what was up on that. Thought maybe it was too big to go right side up or something. Just knocked out another bowl on toat of a piece of toast. The cornbread is a goner.
