    Gotta love Montana

    4.5 billion annual budget (balanced)

    4th largest state in the union

    870 million in reserve fund

    Legislature meets 3 months a year

    No sales tax

    Income tax 5-11%

    Property taxes about $1100 per year for the average homeowner.

    My property taxes in NV are a lot lower, no income tax there, but Montana its funny I think we got a few cities that have bigger budgets than that.

    San Francisco expended $441 million so they could have 2900 construction jobs. The link to their
    total budget - yeah its broken. I finally found it - their budget is $7.8 BILLION - one city - not even the biggest.

    My God people at that rate you need to stop building.

    I find it incomprehensible how big cities always seem to get it wrong. I'm sure there must be an exception somewhere in the US, but I haven't heard of it, yet. In Chicago, the public school system is $1 billion in the red. I think the worst of it is they seem to think its not a big deal! But I guess if you compare it the federal deficit...

    Ya know, I seem to see a thread in all this. Places run by Dems always seem to be in trouble.
