    Old lady from Ohio

My son is a beginning prepper and I wanted to join a forum so I could learn what he is talking about :distracted:
I am all for what he is doing and he swears he will have me covered in the family program. I am in a powerchair so if the power goes out, I am going to be really hard to move around...
I have been watching videos on websites and Youtube and am going to be doing some things for myself, like food storage and water storage. I have been thinking of getting a wheelchair in case of a lengthy blackout so I can at least get around. I have lanterns, no candles cause I am allergic to them.
I hope to learn a lot more on this forum

I wish my mom was like you!

Welcome to the forum, from KY here. Try 100% beeswax candles with cotton wicks (not soy or paraffin) .. they are said to be allergy free. Now finding one that is 100% beeswax and 100% cotton is the tricky part because they will put zinc in the wicks or nitrates/sulfates. Beeswax burning releases negative ions in the air that attract to positive ions (viruses, bacteria and dust) and collide and fall to the floor to be swept up instead of being inhaled.

    Anyway, welcome!

Hi Beverly. Welcome. I'm originally from Ohio, but I refuse to say I'm an old lady...just a Bag Lady...:highly_amused:

Welcome. Prepping is simply about being prepared for a variety of disasters, ranging from short term weather problems up to very serious long term disasters. Your situation makes planning a bit different than it might be for others. Electricity failures will impact all of us, but in your case I would suggest focusing on that a bit earlier than someone else. Do you have a generator?
