Early Anterless is closed in my DMU, maybe because of the lack off deer
Been hunting for a week now. Nothing but small fawns and does. Can't bring myself to shoot mama, "YET".
We opened for archery a week ago. Starting about 3-4 weeks ago I notice that I was seeing a lot fewer deer on my evening walks. I was seeing 7-12 deer a night but now I'm only seeing 1 or 2. My trail cams show the deer coming out around 3 am. Before they'd start a bit before sundown and be around until 9 am...
almost as if they're learning.
But we have had a lot more coyote activity the last few weeks.
I still scare up a fawn or 2 if I walk the back pasture in the afternoons.
Update: Been sitting on the front porch and just had 2 nice does eating the apples 35 yards from the porch. I don't hunt my front yard so they're safe enough. Watching deer eat apples is very funny since they can barely fit them in their mouths and they have to roll their jaws from side to side to chew on them.

Saw a guy and his female passenger almost take a doe with a Harley 3 days ago. That would have been a mess but it all worked out ok.
That's when I started shooting does along with the bucks while hunting. Does make damn fine jerky.
