I read the article. New Jersey has the highest density of black bears in the country. I did not know that.
Also, the governor can not set hunting regulations, that is done by the wildlife department.
Just like Florida. Our policies are set by the FWC - Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Here the black bear population was decimated by hunting a few decades ago, and hunting was stopped until numbers can come back up.
Reading the article was entertaining - it seems that the governor did something we call "writing a check your butt can't cover." And now, the animal rights activists are up in arms!! Pun intended.
